HAGERSTOWN,
MD (May 18) -- Daryn Pittman captured the $10,000 feature win in
Pennzoil World of Outlaws competition at Hagerstown Speedway on
Saturday. Pittman led the final 6 laps en route to the big win while
battling it out with Tyler Walker. The victory was Pittman's second of
the season while Walker finished runner-up for the second consecutive
race.
The six fastest times in qualifying were recorded by
drivers on Hoosier tires. Twenty-eight cars posted times--24 of them
used Hoosier tires. Todd Hestor posted fast time on a pair of Hoosier
D10's. Hestor's time was 15.223 seconds around the 1/2-mile oval. Joey
Saldana, Craig Dollansky, Danny Wood, Greg Hodnett and Paul McMahan
rounded out the top six times. In fact, 16 of the top 17 times were
recorded by Hoosier-shod drivers.
All three preliminary heat races were won by drivers
trusting the Hoosier brand. Danny Lasoski, Donny Schatz and Lance
Dewease each won their respective 8-lap heat races.
Greg Hodnett was the top Hoosier-shod finisher in the
first dash. He finished in second place. Tyler Walker won the second
dash and, as a result, would start from the outside pole in the
A-feature. Randy Hannagan also won the B feature on Hoosier tires.
In the 30-lap A-feature, Tyler Walker immediately
jumped into the race lead on an RD12/D12 set-up. Walker led until lap
25, when Daryn Pittman, who had started back in ninth position, moved
into the lead. Pittman led the remaining laps en route to the win
using the same RD12/D12 combination as Walker. Walker settled for
second place for the second race in a row and collected $5,500.
All told, Team-Hoosier secured 12 of the top 13
positions in the night's final race. Completing the list of top
Hoosier-shod finishers were: Greg Hodnett, fourth; Paul McMahan,
fifth; Donny Schatz, sixth; Joey Saldana, seventh; Mark Kinser,
eighth; Steve Kinser, ninth; Danny Lasoski, tenth; Lance Dewease,
eleventh; Keith Kauffman, twelfth; and Randy Hannagan,
thirteenth.
Steve Kinser regained the Pennzoil World of Outlaws
points lead with 3191 points over Danny Lasoski (3189) and Mark Kinser
(3124). Craig Dollansky, Joey Saldana and Tim Shaffer round out the
'all-Hoosier' top six.
Also of note, Jake Raudabaugh won the KARS 358 Sprint
Car race at Hagerstown while using a Hoosier RD12/D12 combination--the
same as the Outlaws winner.
Hoosier Open Wheel Dirt Product Manager Neil Cowman
attended the event and reported the details for this report.
The series continues this Friday at Lowe's Motor
Speedway for a two-night program.
