PRINCETON,
MN (May 21-22) -- Craig Dollansky captured both Friday and Saturday's
World of Outlaws Series races at Princeton Speedway (just minutes away
from Dollansky's Minnesota home) over the past weekend. The two-day
event was the inaugural Polydome Princeton National. On Friday,
Dollansky took the lead from Jonathan Allard on lap 17, in the 30-lap
preliminary en route to the $5,000 win. On Saturday, Dollansky passed
Kraig Kinser on lap 37, on his to winning the 40-lap finale. Both
races ended in a 1-2-3 finish for Team Hoosier which ran its season
record to 23-1 in World of Outlaws sanctioned races.
FRIDAY'S PRELIMINARY
PRINCETON, MN (May 21) -- Thirty-seven cars were entered in
qualifying Friday on the 1/4-mile high banks of Princeton Speedway
with 35 of them riding on Hoosier tires. Craig Dollansky set fast time
of the night with a lap of 10.138 seconds which was a new single lap
record at the facility. Jonathan Allard was second with Danny Lasoski,
Erin Crocker and Paul McMahan rounding out the top five as
Hoosier-shod cars posted the 23 fastest times in qualifying.
Jason Meyers, Randy Anderson, Tim Shaffer and Brooke
Tatnell were the four heat race winners. All four captured their
respective wins on Hoosier tires. Danny Lasoski and Jonathan Allard
were the two Dash winners. The Hoosier brand was the only tire brand
used in both Dash races.
In the 30-lap feature, Jonathan Allard took the lead
from the outset and led through lap 17, before relinquishing the lead
to third starting Craig Dollansky who led the remainder of the
distance to claim the win. Dollansky took the $5,000 win using a
90" D10/RD12 (LR/RR) combination. Jason Meyers charged through
the field to finish in second place after starting 14th. Like Meyers,
Brooke Tatnell also passed 12 cars to claim third. The top three
finishers all used the same Hoosier rear-drive combination.
Kraig Kinser finished in fourth place followed by
Daryn Pittman, Jonathan Allard, Brandon Wimmer, Tyler Walker, Donny
Schatz and Joey Saldana in fifth through tenth, respectively.
SATURDAY'S FINALE
PRINCETON, MN (May 22) -- With the top four finishers in Friday's race
locked into the first four starting positions in Saturday's Dash, that
left 29 drivers posting times in qualifying--all but two rode on
Hoosier tires. Donny Schatz was the fastest qualifier with a lap of
10.419 seconds. He was followed by Danny Lasoski, Daryn Pittman, Jason
Sides and Travis Whitney.
All three heat races were won by Hoosier-shod drivers
including Steve Kinser, Tyler Walker and Paul McMahan.
The Dash race was won by Craig Dollansky who started
on the pole for the night's 40-lap feature.
In the night's feature race, Craig Dollansky, using a
92"RD12/RD12 combination, jumped into the lead as the green flag
was waved. His lead lasted seven laps before third starting Kraig
Kinser made the pass for the lead. Young Kinser, using a
92"RD12/D12 setup, maintained leader status until lap 37. That's
when Dollansky moved back into the lead after making contact with
Kinser while the two were battling for the win. Dollansky led the
final four laps to take the win and pocket the $10,000 prize. Donny
Schatz finished in second with Kraig Kinser settling for third. It was
the 15th consecutive 1-2-3 finish for the Hoosier tire brand.
Brooke Tatnell finished in fourth, followed by Steve
Kinser, Jason Meyers, Daryn Pittman, Paul McMahan, Tyler Walker and
Tim Shaffer in fifth through tenth, respectively.
Defending series champion Steve Kinser remains atop
the World of Outlaws Series driver standings with 2400 points followed
by Danny Lasoski with 2343. Donny Schatz (2326) is in third followed
by Jason Meyers (2307). Paul McMahan is in fifth place followed by
Craig Dollansky, Kraig Kinser, Daryn Pittman, Tim Shaffer and Joey
Saldana. All ten drivers compete using USA-made Hoosier tires.
The World of Outlaws Series will resume competition
this Tuesday, May 25, at Pennsylvania's Lernerville Speedway. The
grueling Outlaws schedule will be at "full speed" this week
with the series contesting nine races in a 12 day period beginning
Tuesday.
