SARVER,
PA (May 25) -- Defending World of Outlaws champion Steve Kinser won
the 35-lap feature at Lernerville Speedway on Tuesday night taking the
lead from Sammy Swindell on lap 22, on his way to his tenth win of the
season. After qualifying fifth and winning both his heat and Dash
races, the "King" went on to victory in the night's feature
race. The event attracted 55 cars and saw Team Hoosier push its season
record to 24 wins in the 25 World of Outlaws sanctioned events this
season as the purple tire brand seeks its fifth consecutive
championship in the series. The series is beginning a stretch of nine
races in just 12 days as the schedule goes into high gear.
Donny Schatz was the fastest qualifier on the 1/2-mile
clay oval track with a time of 13.084 seconds. He was followed by Joey
Saldana, Mark Kinser, Tim Shaffer and Steve Kinser to round out the
list of top five qualifiers with the Hoosier brand used by the 32
fastest qualifiers. Of the 53 drivers to post times in qualifying, 46
of them did so on Hoosier tires.
In addition to qualifying, the Hoosier D10 compound
again proved to be the right choice in the 8-lap heat races with Ryan
Conian, Jason Meyers, Jason Sides and Steve Kinser each capturing wins
using Hoosier's softest compound.
In the two Dash races, Steve Kinser won the first
Dash, while Sammy Swindell won the second Dash to earn the pair the
right to start the night's feature race on the front row.
In the 35-lap feature, all but one of the 26 race
starters rode atop the Hoosier brand. Sammy Swindell led the race's
first 21 circuits before Steve Kinser, using a RD12/D12 (LR/RR)
combination, passed Swindell on the low side. Once out front, the
18-time series champion was intent on staying there winning by an
estimated nine car lengths. Sammy Swindell settled for second place
followed by sixth starting Tim Shaffer. Both Swindell and Shaffer used
the same rear tire compound combination as Kinser.
Craig Dollansky finished in fourth followed by Danny
Lasoski, Ed Lynch, Jr., Jason Meyers, Lance Dewease, Daryn Pittman and
Mark Kinser in fifth through tenth, respectively. The first 21 drivers
to cross the line were members of Team Hoosier. Kinser's win was the
21st consecutive win for the Hoosier brand in Outlaws competition this
year.
The World of Outlaws are back in action against the
local drivers known as the Pennsylvania Posse on Thursday night (May
27) for the beginning of a two-night program at famous Williams Grove
Speedway.
