MECHANICSBURG,
PA (May 26, 2005) -- Craig Dollansky continued his push to claim his first
World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship capturing the opening night win
at Williams Grove Speedway Thursday night. After finishing fourth in the
standings last year, Dollansky is currently in second place in the driver
rankings behind defending and 19-time champion Steve Kinser. Dollansky rode a
Hoosier 94" RD12/RD15 rear drive tire combination en route to winning the
25-lap preliminary before Friday's feature race. The Elk Grove, MN driver
earned $5,000 for the flag-to-flag win. PA Posse member Lance Dewease finished
in second place followed by Danny Lasoski for the 27th consecutive 1-2-3 finish
for Hoosier-shod drivers. Amazingly, it was also 115th straight win in the
series for the Hoosier brand which has dominated sprint racing since the 2000
season. In fact, the Hoosier brand has been used by the last five series
champions.
Forty-five cars jammed the Williams Grove Speedway pits for qualifying with
all but two drivers opting to use Hoosier tires. Greg Hodnett, a regular
410-sprint competitor at the track, clocked the fastest lap in qualifying by
circling the 1/2-mile clay oval in 17.596 seconds using a Hoosier RD12 right
rear tire. The Hoosier brand was used by the 26 fastest cars in
qualifying.
Heat race winners included Joey Saldana, Steve Kinser, Jason Johnson and
Donny Schatz. All four are series regulars and all four race on Hoosier tires.
Craig Dollansky and Tim Shaffer were the two Dash race winners earning the
right to start the 25-lap feature from the front row. Both drivers are also
series regulars and use Hoosier tires.
In the feature race, all 27 starters rode atop the Hoosier brand. Pole-sitter
Craig Dollansky took command at the drop of the green flag and led flag-to-flag
for the opening night win. It was the 115th consecutive win in the traveling
sprint series for the Hoosier brand dating back to the first race of
2004.
Local favorite Lance Dewease, using a 94"D12/RD15 combination, finished
in second place after starting fourth. Danny Lasoski using the same rear drive
combination as the race winner, took third place giving the Hoosier brand its
27th consecutive 1-2-3 finish of the season. Steve Kinser (94"D12/RD15)
finished in fourth followed by Donny Kreitz, Jr. (96"RD12/RD15). The
Hoosier right rear RD15 compound was the choice of 24 of the top 25 race
finishers.
All World of Outlaws Sprint Series events are serviced out of Hoosier
headquarters in Lakeville, IN. Dave Campbell is the track service manager for
the series as well as the driver of the semi carrying Hoosier tires to the 100+
events each year. Assisting Dave at Williams Grove Thursday was Randy Glover
Jeff Pirrello and Bobby Wirts of Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic.
The local drivers look to even the score with the Outlaws tonight in the
finale at Williams Grove. For more information visit the World of Outlaws
