LEBANON, NY (May 27) -- Joey Saldana captured his second A-feature win
of the season Tuesday night at Lebanon Valley Speedway. Saldana, who
led all 25 laps en route to the win, was followed by Steve Kinser and
Paul McMahan. It was the 21st
consecutive time Team-Hoosier has finished 1-2-3 in the O'Reilly World
of Outlaws Series. The Hoosier brand has remained undefeated in sprint
racing's premier series for over two months heading into tonight's
one-night show at New York's Rolling Wheels Raceway Park.
Twenty-six cars posted times in qualifying with 18 of
them riding on Hoosier tires while eight drivers opted to run one of
the other two competing tire brands. Once again the Hoosier D10
compound proved to be the dominant compound in qualifying. Danny
Lasoski earned fast time of the night with a new single lap record of
16.383 seconds around the 1/2-mile track. The ten fastest times in
qualifying were set by drivers riding on Hoosier tires. Steve Kinser,
Daryn Pittman, Donny Schatz, Paul McMahan, Joey Saldana, Jason Meyers,
Jeremy Campbell, Curt Michael and Jason Sides were second through
tenth in qualifying.
In heat race action, Hoosier-shod drivers claimed two
of the three 8-lap races. Jason Meyers won the first heat, while Brian
Carlson won the final heat.
Both Dash races were won by drivers using Hoosier
tires. Paul McMahan won the first Dash and Joey Saldana won the second
Dash. As a result, the two drivers would start the night's feature on
the front row.
In the 25-lap feature, Saldana powered into the first
turn to take the race lead at the drop of the green flag. From there,
Saldana and his Hoosier RD12/D12 (LR/RR) tires defended the race lead
until the checkered flag dropped. Saldana was followed to the line by
Steve Kinser (D12/D15), Paul McMahan (RD12/D12), Danny Lasoski
(RD12/D12), Donny Schatz, (RD12/D12), Jason Meyers and Curt Michael as
Team-Hoosier took the first seven spots in the night's final race. The
1-2-3 sweep was the 21st consecutive time the Hoosier brand has
claimed all three podium positions in the World of Outlaws Series
dating back to March.
Jeremy Campbell finished in ninth and Brian Carlson in
tenth as Team-Hoosier claimed nine out of the top ten finishing
positions. The win was Team-Hoosier's 28th in 30 races contested this
season.
The series is back in action tonight at New York's
Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in Elbridge, NY.
