ELBRIDGE,
NY (May 30) -- Defending Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series Champion
Danny Lasoski won the 25-lap feature at Rolling Wheels Raceway
Thursday night. The win was Lasoski's fifth A-main win of the season
and seventh overall in 32 Outlaw races. Lasoski took the lead on lap
12, leading the rest of the way en route to the win as the series now
heads to Ohio for two nights of racing. The victory also marked the
29th time, in 32 races, a Hoosier-shod car has won the night's feature
race in Outlaw competition in 2002.
Twenty-three cars were on hand for qualifying on the
Rolling Wheels Raceway 5/8th's mile track--16 of the 23 elected to
ride on Hoosiers. The remaining seven drivers were split among the
other two competing tire brands. The three fastest times were set by
drivers using Hoosier tires. Donny Schatz was fast qualifier at 20.783
seconds followed by Steve Kinser at 20.852 seconds and Tim Shaffer at
20.858 seconds.
All three preliminary heat races were won by
Hoosier-shod drivers. Daryn Pittman, Lance Dewease and Danny Wood each
won their respective heats.
Danny Lasoski won the 5-lap dash race earning him the
right to start the feature from the pole position.
In the A-feature, Danny Lasoski used his inside
starting position to immediately jump into the lead using a pair of
Hoosier D12's. Lasoski led 17 of the 25 race laps en route to
the win. The finish was dominated by teams using the Hoosier brand, as
12 of the first 13 drivers to cross the finish line used Hoosier
tires.
Those Hoosier-shod drivers in the top 13 were: Daryn
Pittman, third; Donny Schatz, fourth; Danny Wood, fifth; Joey Saldana,
sixth; Lance Dewease, seventh; Craig Dollansky, eighth; Tim Shaffer,
ninth; Steve Kinser, tenth; Randy Hannagan, eleventh; Brad Furr,
twelfth; and Fred Rahmer, thirteenth.
As stated earlier, this was the 29th victory in 32
Pennzoil World of Outlaws races for teams on the Hoosier brand.
The series resumes racing tonight in Hartford, OH at
Sharon Speedway for a single night of action before traveling to
famous Eldora Speedway on Saturday for another single night of racing.
Even as Team-Hoosier continues to win over 90% of the races in Outlaw
competition, Hoosier Engineers will be on hand at Eldora to evaluate
tire performance and answer questions.
