ELDORA SPEEDWAY
ROSSBURG, OH (June 1) -- While being denied victory Friday night,
Steve Kinser came back to win the 30-lap feature at Eldora Speedway
Saturday night and collect the $10,000 top prize.
Twenty-six cars posted time in qualifying--20 of them
on Hoosiers. Danny Lasoski set fast time of the evening when he
circled the famous 1/2-mile track in 13.119 seconds. Lasoski was
closely followed by Joey Saldana at 13.123 seconds. Both drivers used
a pair of Hoosier D10's to qualify on. This is Hoosier's softest
compound and is normally used by all the Hoosier-shod teams in their
qualifying efforts.
Mark Kinser was the sole Hoosier-clad car to win one
of the three preliminary heat races. P.J. Chesson and Brad Furr
captured dash wins and would start the feature on the front row as a
result.
Brad Furr got the jump at the drop of the green flag
to take the early race lead on an RD12/D12 combination. Furr battled
with Joey Saldana during the race's middle stages before Steve Kinser,
who had started fifth, moved into the race lead on lap 20. This time,
"The King of the Outlaws" would not be denied and captured
the win. Kinser took the $10,000 victory riding on a pair of Hoosier
D12's.
Danny Lasoski captured the runner-up position and
collected $5,500 while using the same compound combination as the race
winner--a pair of D12's. Brad Furr took third place and $3,200 while
on an RD12/D12 set-up.
All told, 12 of the first 13 drivers to cross the
finish line were riding on Hoosier tires. Rounding out the list of
Hoosier-shod drivers in the top 13 were, Mark Kinser, Chad Kemenah,
Craig Dollansky, Randy Hannagan, Tim Shaffer, Paul McMahan, Donny
Schatz, Joey Saldana and Dale Blaney in 5th through 13th,
respectively.
Danny Lasoski (3933) maintained the lead in the series
point standings over Steve Kinser (3916) by 17 points, followed by
Mark Kinser (3781), Craig Dollansky (3777), and Joey Saldana (3735) in
third through fifth place, respectively.
Not only does Team-Hoosier lay claim to the top five
positions in sprint racing's top series, Hoosier tires are also used
by the sixth, seventh, ninth and tenth place drivers, or nine of the
top ten in the standings.
Racing resumes this Friday for a single-night program
at Farmers City, IL and the following night at Terre Haute, IN for
another one-night show.
