TERRE
HAUTE, IN (June 8) -- Danny Lasoski increased his lead in the Pennzoil
World of Outlaws Series over Steve Kinser by winning the 30-lap
feature at the Terre Haute Action Track Saturday night. It was a clean
sweep for Team-Hoosier, as Hoosier-shod teams set the eight fastest
times in qualifying and won every race contested during the evening of
competition. Lasoski, also known as "Catfish" by his team
owner Tony Stewart for his propensity to run the bottom of most
tracks, took this win by utilizing the high-side of the 1/2-mile
oval.
A total of 21 cars were on hand for qualifying on the
sunny day in Indiana with temperatures in the mid-to-upper eighties. Nineteen
of the 21 qualifiers were on Hoosiers.
The first three drivers out on the track set the three
fastest times in qualifying. Joey Saldana, who was first out, set fast
time of 16.555 seconds (108.728 mph) around the 1/2-mile track. Danny
Lasoski, Mark Kinser, Danny Wood, Kraig Kinser, Daryn Pittman, Steve
Kinser and Tim Shaffer were second through eighth, as the top eight
times were posted by Hoosier-shod drivers
All three preliminary heat races were won by drivers
using Hoosier tires. Donny Schatz, Brad Furr and Blake Feese each won
their respective 8-lap heats.
Both dash races were also won by Hoosier-shod drivers.
Mark Kinser and Danny Lasoski won the dash races and earned the right
to start on the front row for the 30-lap feature. Both drivers used
Hoosier's new RD12 compound on their right rear positions.
In the feature, Danny Lasoski got the jump at the drop
of the green flag over Mark Kinser using the high-side of the track to
take the lead. Lasoski led all thirty building a nearly straight-away
lead at the finish. Lasoski, like most of the other race starters,
elected to ride on a Hoosier D12/D15 combination for the 30-lap race.
Lasoski picked up $10,000 for the win.
Finishing in second place was Mark Kinser who had Karl
Kinser back in the #5 pits after recuperating from some recent
surgery. Kinser pocketed $5,500 for his runner-up finish. Steve
Kinser, who started fifth, mounted several challenges for the
runner-up position settled for third place and $3,200.
All told, the first seven drivers to cross the finish
line used the Hoosier brand. Joey Saldana, Daryn Pittman, Danny Wood
and Tim Shaffer finished fourth through seventh for Team-Hoosier.
Craig Dollansky captured ninth place and competed the
list of Hoosier-shod drivers in the top ten.
Danny Lasoski stands atop the series standings with
4227 points, followed closely by Steve Kinser with 4204 points. Mark
Kinser, Craig Dollansky, Joey Saldana, Tim Shaffer and Donny Schatz
round out the top seven as nine of the top ten drivers in the point
standings ride on Hoosier tires.
The series will next be in Topeka, KS on Friday and
Saturday night. Team-Hoosier has now amassed a stellar 32 wins in 36
races in Pennzoil World of Outlaws competition this season.
