LASALLE,
IL (June 9) -- Danny Lasoski is on a roll right now in the World of
Outlaws Series. After failing to win in the first 27 races of the
season, the 2001 series champion has reeled off three successive wins
to close within 100 points of series leader Steve Kinser. Lasoski took
the lead from Brooke Tatnell on the 13th circuit in the 35-lap feature
race going on to win by an amazing 15 car lengths at LaSalle Speedway.
Although all three tire manufacturers had competitors using their
products, only the Hoosier brand was represented in the night's
feature race with all 24 starters riding on USA-made Hoosier tires.
The close proximity of the race to Hoosier headquarters in Indiana
allowed for Hoosier Open Wheel Dirt Product Manager Neil Cowman and
Vice President of Sales Dennis Sherman to attend the event. The pair
were able to talk with all the teams and receive feedback on the
products and services Hoosier offers.
Thirty-eight cars posted times in qualifying with 34
of them using the Hoosier brand. The remaining four drivers were split
(3-1) among the other two competing tire brands. When the dust
had settled on the 1/4-mile clay oval, Brandon Wimmer was the fastest
qualifier setting a new track record with a 10.368 second lap on
Hoosier tires. Amazingly, the top 29 times in qualifying were posted
by drivers using Hoosiers. Jason Sides, Joey Saldana, Steve Kinser and
Donny Schatz were second through fifth in qualifying.
Jason Johnson, Tim Shaffer, Jesse Gianetto and Brian
Paulus were the four heat race winners--all competed on Hoosiers.
Shaffer took the win in his first time out driving the #6 Casey's
General Stores car owner by Lonny Parsons.
In the two Dash races, all 16 starters rode on Hoosier
tires. The first Dash was won by Brooke Tatnell and the second by
Craig Dollansky.
In the 35-lap feature, all 24 starters rode atop the
Hoosier brand. The race began with Brooke Tatnell jumping out to the
early lead from the pole. Tatnell's lead lasted until lap 13, when
fourth starting Danny Lasoski took the lead with a pass to the inside
of the Australian driver. Lasoski, who qualified 11th, went on to win
the race by nearly 15 car lengths using a Hoosier 92" D10/RD12
(LR/RR) combination. Steve Kinser, using a 92" RD12/D12 set up,
charged from sixth to finish in second place. Brooke Tatnell settled
for third using the same compound/stagger set up as the race winner.
Donny Schatz finished in fourth followed by Jason Meyers in
fifth.
Rounding out the top ten were Daryn Pittman, Randy
Hannagan, Paul McMahan, Jonathan Allard and Tim Shaffer.
After opening the season in Australia with three
successive (non-points) wins, Team Hoosier is now 29-1 in points races
this season in the World of Outlaws Series. Ironically, the only time
the Hoosier brand was not on the winner's car at the end of the night
was the season-opening race at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, AZ. That
aside, the Hoosier brand now has 29 consecutive wins and 24 straight
1-2-3 finishes in the series.
Weather permitting, the World of Outlaws Series is
back in action this Friday, June 11th, at Hartford Speedway Park in
Michigan.
