ARCADIA,
WI (June 10) -- "The first thing I'm going to do is call Craig
(Dollansky) and tell him about it." commented a jubilant Jason
Meyers after capturing his first O'Reilly World of Outlaws feature win
since replacing the injured Dollansky in the #7 Karavan sprint car.
The win came in front of a standing room only crowd at Wisconsin's Fox
Ridge Speedway. Meyers took the lead on lap 19 in the 30-lap
feature en route to the win. Meyers was followed to the finish line by
Donny Schatz in second and Kraig Kinser in third for the 24th
consecutive 1-2-3 finish for Team-Hoosier in Outlaws
competition.
The Outlaws Series got back in action Tuesday after
nearly ten days off. Thirty-two cars made the trip to Wisconsin
attempting to gain entry into the 24-car field for the night's feature
race. Twenty-five of the 32 hopefuls qualified on Hoosier tires with
the remaining seven drivers opting to take their chances on one of the
two other competing tire brands. Danny Lasoski set a new track record
with his lap of 13.013 seconds around the 3/8-mile to earn fast time
honors, while fellow Hoosier-shod driver Brooke Tatnell was second in
qualifying with a lap of 13.043 seconds.
In heat race action, Team-Hoosier was a perfect four
out of four with Brian Brown, Tim Shaffer, Justin Henderson and Kim
Mock winners on Hoosier tires.
The perfect night for Hoosier-shod drivers continued
in both Dash races when young Kraig Kinser won the first Dash and
Jason Sides won the second Dash. The victories earned the two drivers
the right to start on the front row for the night's 30-lap feature.
In the night's feature race, Kraig Kinser, using a
Hoosier RD12/D12 rear drive combination, took the race lead from the
drop of the green flag. Kinser maintained the lead until lap 19, when
fourth starting Jason Meyers moved into the lead using the same
compound combination as Kinser. Meyers led the remainder of the way to
take the win in front of the largest crowd in the history of the
speedway. It was Meyers' second career victory in the series. Donny
Schatz finished in second place using a Hoosier D10/RD12 (LR/RR)
combination, while Kraig Kinser settled for third. It was the 24th
consecutive 1-2-3 finish for the Hoosier brand and 26th overall in 33
night's of racing in the Outlaws Series.
Meyers commented after the win, "I wasn’t sure
about our tire choice here tonight, but they (the crew) did what they
thought was right, and it was perfect. We’ve got a lot of great
people associated with this team--MAC, Karavan trailers, Hoosier
tires, Maxim Chassis."
The final tally had Team-Hoosier collecting the first
nine positions in the feature race. Jason Sides (D10/RD12), Steve
Kinser (RD12/D12), Danny Lasoski, Brooke Tatnell, Joey Saldana and
Paul McMahan finished fourth through ninth, respectively, on Hoosier
tires.
Danny Lasoski continues to lead in the series
standings with 4072 points followed closely by defending series
champion Steve Kinser with 4043 points. Joey Saldana (3773) is third
in the standings followed by Daryn Pittman (3728) and Jason Sides
(3497). All five drivers use Hoosier tires.
Next up on the World of Outlaws Series schedule is the
3-day "Duel in the Dakotas" at Red River Valley Speedway
beginning this Thursday.
Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. congratulates Jason Meyers
on his big win, while also wishing a speedy recovery to Craig
Dollansky while he recuperates from back surgery at his home in
Minnesota.
