CITY, OK (June18) -- Steve Kinser passed Joey Saldana with four
laps remaining in the Pennzoil World of Outlaws 30-lap Bud Carson
Memorial race at State Fair Speedway on Wednesday. Not only was it the
27th 1-2-3 sweep by Hoosier-shod cars in series competition this
season, it was a 1-2-3-4-5 finish for the Hoosier brand. Following
Kinser to the stripe was current series points leader, Danny Lasoski,
Joey Saldana, Donny Schatz and Brad Furr.
Thirty cars made the trip to the 1/2-mile State Fair
Speedway with 26 of those cars opting to run the Hoosier brand. The
eight fastest times were posted by cars riding on Hoosier tires. Danny
Lasoski set fast time of 16.229 seconds. Lasoski was followed by Joey
Saldana, Brad Furr, Steve Kinser, Craig Dollansky, Tim Shaffer, Daryn
Pittman and Danny Wood.
Two of the three preliminary heat races were won by
Hoosier-shod drivers. Donny Schatz won the second heat, while Tyler
Walker, coming off three consecutive Gumout wins, took the final heat.
Both 5-lap dash races were won by cars on Hoosier
tires. Danny Lasoski won the first dash with Joey Saldana capturing
the second dash. The wins placed both drivers on the front row for the
feature.
In the 30-lap feature, Joey Saldana jumped into the
lead at the drop of the green flag. Saldana, using a Hoosier RD12/D12
rear tire compound combination held the lead for 26 laps before Steve
Kinser, using a D12/D15 set-up took the lead on lap 27. Kinser led the
final four circuits to capture the $10,000 win.
Finishing in second was Danny Lasoski who opted to run
on a pair of Hoosier D12's. Joey Saldana took third place followed by
Donny Schatz and Brad Furr to round out the all-Hoosier top five.
Other Hoosier-shod top ten finishers were: Daryn
Pittman, seventh; Tyler Walker, eighth; and Craig Dollansky ninth.

followed by Steve Kinser. Currently, nine of the top ten drivers in
the point standings ride on the Hoosier brand. Team-Hoosier has now
captured wins in 34 of the 38 nights of racing in the Pennzoil World
of Outlaws Series.
The series resumes action this Friday for the 3-day
Eagle Nationals at Eagle Raceway in Eagle, NE.
