STEVE KINSER IN WINNER'S CIRCLE AGAIN
HOOSIER NABS 28TH CONSECUTIVE PODIUM SWEEP

6-19-03

Steve KinserBRANDON, SD (June18) -- Defending World of Outlaws Series Champion Steve Kinser won his tenth A-main race of the season and 13th overall last night at Husets Speedway in South Dakota. Kinser fought longtime adversary Sammy Swindell in another classic battle before the 17-time series champion emerged the winner. The two each led twice with Kinser leading the final 16 laps to take the win. Following "The King" to the finish line was Paul McMahan and Danny Lasoski. The 1-2-3 finish by Hoosier-shod drivers was the 28th consecutive podium sweep (30th overall) in the series in 37 nights of competition. The Hoosier brand has now claimed wins in 35 of the 37 races contested to date in the series for an amazing 95% win percentage.

Thirty cars were entered in qualifying with 24 cars opting to run on Hoosier tires and the remaining six drivers split evenly among the two other competing tire brands. Danny Lasoski set fast time of the night with his lap of 10.755 seconds around the 3/8-mile Husets track. All told, Team-Hoosier claimed the top nine positions in qualifying. After Lasoski, Kraig Kinser, Steve Kinser, Terry McCarl, Daryn Pittman, Paul McMahan, Sammy Swindell, Jason Meyers and Gary DeWall rounded out the purple-parade in qualifying.

In heat race action, the Hoosier brand's domination continued with a perfect three-for-three showing when Jason Sides, Joey Saldana and Donny Schatz each won their respective heat races.

In Dash competition, the two winners also rode on Hoosier tires. Paul McMahan won the first Dash, while Sammy Swindell won the final Dash.

In the 35-lap feature, Sammy Swindell took the lead from the outset from his outside pole starting position. Swindell led the first 12 circuits before being passed on the inside by fourth starting Steve Kinser who was riding on a Hoosier D12/D15 (LR/RR) combination. Kinser's lead would last just one lap before Swindell passed Kinser low in the first and second turns to regain the lead. Swindell led the next six laps before Kinser moved back into the lead for good on the 20th lap. Kinser masterfully negotiated lapped traffic to take the win by eight car lengths. It was Kinser's 10th A-main win and 13th overall this season.

Kinser was followed to the finish line by Paul McMahan who also elected to use a D12/D15 combination for the 35-lap affair, while Danny Lasoski took third place using a pair of D12's. The final tally had Hoosier-shod drivers claiming the first nine positions in the night's final race. Jason Meyers, Daryn Pittman, Joey Saldana, Donny Schatz, Mark Kinser and Terry McCarl finished fourth through ninth, respectively. McCarl, the current Knoxville Raceway 410 Sprint points leader, is gunning for his fifth consecutive track championship at the famed Iowa facility, while current Outlaws points leader Danny Lasoski was a seven-time Knoxville Raceway track champion.

Danny Lasoski remains atop the World of Outlaws Series standings with Steve Kinser following him closely in second place. Kinser entered Wednesday's contest 67 points behind Lasoski in the standings.

The series takes a night off before returning to action on Friday night for a one-night show at Missouri's Joplin 66 Speedway.
