FARMER
CITY, IL (June 23) -- Defending World of Outlaws Series Champion Steve
Kinser dominated Monday night's action at Farmer City Raceway winning
every race he entered. Kinser led all 35 laps in the night's feature
race and collected the $10,000 winner's prize check. The 17-time
series champion was followed to the finish line by previous race
winner Paul McMahan and Joey Saldana in second and third,
respectively. The 1-2-3 finish by drivers using Hoosier tires was the 32nd
consecutive time the Hoosier brand has been the only brand
represented on the podium in 41 nights of racing. Amazingly, the
night's feature race ended with the Hoosier brand collecting the top
12 spots in the 35-lap finale. Hoosier Open Wheel Dirt Product Manager
Neil Cowman and Hoosier Engineer John Reynolds attended the race to
answer any questions the teams may have about the Hoosier product line
and update them on recent product developments.
A huge 40-car field was on hand Monday night at the
1/4-mile Farmer City Raceway in hopes of making the field for the
feature race. Fully 36 of the 40 cars opted to race using the
Hoosier brand. The remaining four drivers were split among the other
two competing tire brands. Danny Lasoski extended his series lead in poles winning the fast qualifier status after his 10.789
second lap. Lasoski was followed by Paul McMahan, Terry McCarl, Joey
Saldana, Steve Kinser, Danny Smith, Jason Johnson, Brian Brown, Kraig
Kinser, Daryn Pittman, Jason Sides, Jim Moughan, Jason Meyers and Bob
Bennett, as Team-Hoosier captured the top 14 times in qualifying.
In heat race action, the Hoosier brand won three of
the four heat races that were contested during the night. Donny Schatz
won the first heat, while Daryn Pittman won the second heat and Steve
Kinser won the final heat.
Steve Kinser then won the first Dash race which
determined the inside starting positions for the feature. The first
Dash had all eight competitors using Hoosier tires, while the second
Dash had seven of the eight combatants using the purple tire brand.
When the second 7-lap Dash was complete, Team-Hoosier finished one
through seven leaving the last place position for the sole
non-Hoosier-shod competitor.
In the 35-lap feature, Steve Kinser took the lead from
the pole and never looked back winning by almost six car lengths.
Kinser used a D12 compound as his left rear compound choice, while
opting for a D15 compound as his right rear weapon of choice. Paul McMahan
followed up his previous night's win with a solid runner-up finish
using a pair of D12's. Joey Saldana, using a Hoosier D12/RD15
combination took third.
In addition to notching their 32nd consecutive podium
sweep, Team-Hoosier also took the top 12 positions in the feature with
Daryn Pittman, Danny Lasoski, Donny Schatz, Jason Sides, Jason Meyers,
Terry McCarl, Kraig Kinser, Randy Hannagan and Jason Meyers finished
fourth through twelfth, respectively.
Danny Lasoski (5001) continues to lead the series standings
with eight wins and 39 top-ten finishes on the season, while Steve
Kinser (4970) closes in on the top spot. Kinser now has 15 wins and 34
top-ten finishes while closing to within 31 points of Lasoski atop the
series standings. Joey Saldana (4665) and Daryn Pittman (4633) are
locked in a battle for third with Saldana holding a slim 32 point
lead. Donny Schatz, Jason Sides and Mark Kinser round out the top
seven in the Outlaws standings. Currently, the top seven drivers in
the standings ride on USA-made Hoosier tires. Paul McMahan and the
injured Craig Dollansky are in ninth and tenth place giving
team-Hoosier claim to nine out of the top ten in the standings.
The series takes a few days off while traveling next
to Nebraska's Eagle Raceway for the two-night Eagle Nationals
beginning June27th.
