TOPEKA,
KS (June 24) -- Danny Lasoski came back from a disappointing 22nd
place finish in the Eagle Nationals finale in Nebraska over the
weekend by dominating Monday night's make-up finale in Topeka, KS.
Lasoski, with car owner Tony Stewart in attendance, led every lap in
the 35-lap feature en route to the win. The night of racing was also
dominated by drivers using the Hoosier brand, as every race contested
was won by a Hoosier-shod driver. The victory now extends
Team-Hoosier's record in the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series to 38
wins in 42 races this season.
The top four cars from the preliminary feature on June
14th were locked into the first four positions in the dash. All four
of those drivers rode atop Hoosier tires. Danny Lasoski, Donny Schatz,
Danny Wood and Craig Dollansky finished first through fourth earlier
this month in the opening night of action at Heartland Park's 3/8-mile
track leaving 28 drivers to post times in qualifying--24 of them on
Hoosier tires.
Team-Hoosier posted the top three times in qualifying
with Joey Saldana setting a new track record with his lap of 11.500
seconds. Series point leader Steve Kinser was second fast with a lap
of 11.751 seconds followed by Tim Shaffer at 11.759 seconds. In fact
nine of the ten fastest times were posted by Hoosier-shod drivers.
All three 8-lap heat races were won by drivers on the
Hoosier brand, as Jason Sides, Randy Hannagan and Mark Kinser each won
their respective heats.
In the single dash race that was contested, seven of
the eight combatants rode on Hoosier tires. When the checkered flag
fell after the 5-lap race, Team-Hoosier finished 1-6, with Danny
Lasoski capturing the win and the pole for the night's 35-lap feature.
In the feature, 20 of the 24 starters elected to run
the Hoosier brand. Danny Lasoski led every lap for a flag-to-flag
victory while on a pair of Hoosier D12's. Steve Kinser, also using a
pair of D12's finished second after starting fifth. Completing the
1-2-3 sweep for Team-Hoosier was Donny Schatz who finished in third
place opting to use a Hoosier RD12/D12 set-up.
Other top ten finishers on Hoosier tires were: Craig
Dollansky, fifth; Daryn Pittman, sixth; Joey Saldana, seventh; Mark
Kinser, eighth; Tim Shaffer, ninth.
Steve Kinser remains atop the series standings as the
Outlaws travel to State Fair Motor Speedway in Sedalia, MO this
Wednesday, June 26th, for a one night show.
