SEDALIA,
MO (July 2) -- Donny Schatz won last night's 25-lap feature at
Missouri's State Fair Speedway using a pair of Hoosier D12's to come
from tenth place to take the win. Schatz was followed to the finish
line by 11th starting Danny Lasoski and 13th starting Tim Shaffer for
the 35th consecutive 1-2-3 finish for Team-Hoosier in O'Reilly World
of Outlaws competition this season. For Schatz, it was his fifth win
of the season. The series travels next to Knoxville, IA for two nights
of racing starting this Friday.
Twenty-eight cars were on hand Wednesday for
qualifying with 25 drivers posting times on Hoosier tires. The three
remaining drivers were split among the other two competing tire
brands. Hoosier-shod cars captured the top eight times and 13 of the
top 14 times in qualifying. Paul McMahan set fast time of the night
when he circled the 1/2-mile oval in 16.598 seconds. Steve Kinser was
just .002 off McMahan's mark when he circled the Missouri oval in
16.600 seconds. Kinser was followed by Danny Lasoski, Kraig Kinser,
Jason Sides, Brooke Tatnell, Jason Meyers and Brian Brown.
There were three preliminary heat races contested. All
three of them were won by drivers sporting the Hoosier tire brand.
Jason Meyers, Sammy Swindell and Tyler Walker each won their
respective heats.
In the two Dash races, Brooke Tatnell was the winner
of the first Dash with Steve Kinser the top Hoosier-shod finisher in
the second Dash when he finished second.
In the feature, fourth starting Steve Kinser moved
into the race lead on lap 12. The defending series champion maintained
the race lead until with just two laps to go, tenth starting Donny
Schatz made the pass for the lead after Kinser's motor gave out.
Schatz held on the final two circuits to take the win. Schatz made his
charge from tenth to first using a pair of Hoosier D12's on his left
rear and right rear tire positions.
Following Schatz to the finish line was Danny Lasoski
who also made a tremendous charge using a pair of D12's. Lasoski moved
from 11th to capture second place. Finally, Tim Shaffer advanced ten
spots from 13th to finish in third place. Shaffer's fantastic run came
while using a D12/RD15 combination.
All told, the Hoosier brand was on 14 of the first 15
drivers to cross the finish line in the night's final race. Finishing
fifth through fifteenth were Paul McMahan, Daryn Pittman, Steve
Kinser, Jason Meyers, Sammy Swindell, Tyler Walker, Joey Saldana,
Brian Brown, Jason Sides and Jeremy Campbell.
As the 4th of July holiday approaches, Team-Hoosier
can look back on a spectacular first half of the season in the World
of Outlaws. Not only has the Hoosier brand finished 1-2-3 in the last
35 nights of racing in the series, the purple tire brand has also won
42 of the 44 races contested in the series to date.
