To date, the Hoosier brand has been the choice of 44 of the 46 race
winners in the series.
PRELIMINARY
Knoxville, IA (July 4) -- A huge 53-car field was on hand for
qualifying Friday with 46 drivers opting to ride on Hoosier tires,
while the remaining seven drivers took their chances using one of the other
two competing tire brands. Local favorite and current Knoxville
points leader Terry McCarl set fast time of the night with his 15.471
second lap around the 1/2-mile track. Paul McMahan, Danny Lasoski, Tim
Shaffer and Jason Sides rounded out the top five with the Hoosier brand
used by the 12 fastest cars in qualifying.
All four heat races were won by drivers using the
Hoosier brand. Ricky Logan won the first heat, while Kevin Frey, Danny
Lasoski and Steve Kinser each won their respective heats.
In the two Dash races, Steve Kinser and Ricky Logan
were the two winners. With the victories, the two earned the right to
start the 25-lap preliminary feature in the front row.
In the feature, Steve Kinser immediately jumped into
the lead from his pole position. Kinser, using a pair of Hoosier
D12's, fought off all challengers to take the win 25 laps later. With
the win, Kinser collected $5,000. Finishing in second place was fifth
starting Danny Lasoski who was also on a pair of D12's. Jason Meyers
finished right where he started--in third place.
The final tally had the Hoosier brand on the first ten
cars to cross the finish line. Completing the list of top ten
finishers were Tim Shaffer, Ricky Logan, Joey Saldana, Kerry Madsen,
Daryn Pittman, Terry McCarl and Danny Wood.
FINALE
KNOXVILLE, IA (July 5) -- Fifty-five cars were on hand Saturday vying
for their chance at the $20,000 prize with 49 of the competitors
riding on
Hoosier tires. With Friday's top four finishers given the first four
spots in the nights Dash race, the Hoosier brand still captured the
top eight times in qualifying. Sammy Swindell earned fast time of the
night when he circled the track in 15.426 seconds. Swindell was
followed by Terry McCarl, Tyler Walker, Kevin Frey, Kerry Madsen, Joey
Saldana, Stevie Smith and Paul McMahan.
Once again, all four of the 8-lap heat races had
Hoosier-shod winners. Paul McMahan won the first heat, while Mark
Kinser, Joey Saldana and Donny Schatz took wins in heats two through
four.
Steve Kinser won the Dash race followed by Danny
Lasoski, Jason Meyers, Tim Shaffer, Sammy Swindell, Terry McCarl,
Tyler Walker and Kerry Madsen. All eight Dash competitors rode on Hoosier
tires. The All-Hoosier field in the Dash guaranteed the Hoosier brand
was the only brand present in the first four rows of the night's feature
race.
In the 40-lap feature, Danny Lasoski took the lead
from Steve Kinser on the second lap and then defended the top spot for
39 laps en route to the $20,000 win. Lasoski used a pair of Hoosier
D12's to take the win. Seventh starting Tyler Walker finished in
second place and collected a tidy $10,000 payout. Walker ran the
40-lap feature using a D12/D15 set up. Rounding out the top three was
defending Knoxville track champion Terry McCarl. McCarl earned $5,000
for the final podium position as the Hoosier brand swept the top ten
in the night's final race for the second consecutive night.
Donny Schatz finished in fourth followed by Kerry
Madsen, Paul McMahan, Tim Shaffer, Jason Meyers, Joey Saldana and
Randy Hannagan.
With the win, Danny Lasoski (5516) extends his lead in the
driver standings to 48 points over Steve Kinser. Joey Saldana is
solidly in third place with 5142 points followed by Daryn Pittman,
Donny Schatz, Jason Sides and Mark Kinser. All seven drivers ride on
USA-made Hoosier tires.
The series is back in action Monday night, July 7, at
Wisconsin's Cedar Lake Speedway for a one-night show before traveling
to Powercom Park for a one-night show in Beaver Dam, WI.
