SIOUX
FALLS, SD (July 6) -- After three consecutive rain outs, the World of
Outlaws Series was finally able to get in a show Tuesday night at
Husets Speedway. Sammy Swindell won the 35-lap feature leading
wire-to-wire en route to collecting his first World of Outlaws win of
the season. Swindell, who raced on Hoosier tires, pushed the Hoosier
brand's win streak to 37 consecutive races in the series. Following
the 3-time series champion to the line was Jason Meyers and Danny
Lasoski. The 1-2-3 finish by Hoosier-shod drivers was also the 32nd consecutive
podium sweep for Team Hoosier. It was also the fifth time this season
that all 24 feature starters rode on Hoosier tires in the night's
final race.
Thirty-seven cars posted times in qualifying with 34
on Hoosiers and the remaining three drivers split among the other two
competing tire brands. Steve Kinser set fast time of the night on the
3/8-mile dirt oval with a time of 10.833 seconds. He was followed by
Mark Kinser, Paul McMahan, Joey Saldana and Craig Dollansky. In fact,
the 26 fastest times in qualifying were recorded by drivers riding on
Hoosier tires.
Jason Sides, Erin Crocker, Chad Meyer and Brian Paulus
were the four heat race winners. All four rode to their respective
10-lap heat race wins using Hoosiers. Sammy Swindell captured the
first Dash win after finishing second in his heat race behind Chad
Meyer. Jason Meyers won the second Dash, while earning the right to
start in the front row alongside Swindell for the night's feature
race.
In the 35-lap feature, all 24 starters rode atop
Hoosier racing tires. Sammy Swindell got the jump over Meyers at the
drop of the green flag using a Hoosier 92" D15/D20 (LR/RR)
combination. Swindell led flag-to-flag for the $10,000 win driving the
#12x car. The 3-time series champion was followed by Jason Meyers who
used the same rear drive combination as the race winner. Danny Lasoski
was third opting to use a 92" RD15/D15 set up. Steve Kinser
finished in fourth place followed by Craig Dollansky.
Rounding out the top ten was Brooke Tatnell in sixth
followed by Daryn Pittman, Terry McCarl, Kerry Madsen and Erin
Crocker.
On the heals of last season's best-ever results
(88-4), Team Hoosier now pushes its 2004 season record to 37-1 in the
World of Outlaws Series.
The World of Outlaws Series is back in action this
Thursday, July 8th, when it begins a three-night show at Red River
Valley Speedway in West Fargo, ND where all three races last year
ended in a 1-2-3 finish for the Hoosier brand.
