DAM, WI (July 10) -- Donny Schatz won his second Pennzoil World of
Outlaws A-feature in the last three events on the circuit last night
at Wisconsin's Powercom Park Raceway. Schatz led every lap in the
40-lap feature in capturing the win. Finishing in second was Brad Furr
followed by Craig Dollansky in third. In addition to capturing their
47th victory of the season, Team-Hoosier's 1-2-3 finish was the 35th
time in 51 races the purple squad has swept the podium this
season.
Forty-four cars were entered in qualifying with 25 of
them electing to ride on the Hoosier brand. The six fastest times were
posted by drivers on Hoosier tires. Tim Shaffer earned fast time after
circling the 1/3-mile oval in 12.181 seconds. Shaffer was followed by
Steve Kinser, Brad Furr, Daryn Pittman, Donny Schatz and Danny Lasoski
in second through sixth, respectively.
In preliminary heat action, three of the four 10-lap
heats were won by Hoosier-shod drivers. Tim Shaffer, Joe Roe and Randy
Hannagan each won their respective heat race.
Both dash race were won by drivers on Hoosiers. Daryn
Pittman won the first dash earning him the pole, while Donny Schatz
won the second dash earning him the right to start alongside Pittman
in the night's final race.
In the 40-lap feature, Donny Schatz got the jump over
Daryn Pittman at the drop of the green flag. From there, he led every
lap of the race, but not without several challenges from Brad Furr.
Schatz won the race using a Hoosier D12/D15 combination. Brad Furr
finished in second place followed by Craig Dollansky in third. Danny
Lasoski finished in fourth place as the top four all used the same
D12/D15 combination.
Randy Hannagan, Mark Kinser, Steve Kinser and Tim
Shaffer finished fifth through eighth--all on the Hoosier brand.
Unofficially, Steve Kinser remains atop the Pennzoil
World of Outlaws standings with 5718 points. Danny Lasoski closes the
gap between he and the top spot with 5697 points. Craig Dollansky
(5510), Mark Kinser (5450), and Joey Saldana (5412) round out the top
five in the standings. Currently, eleven of the top twelve drivers in
the series standings ride on the Hoosier tire brand.
The Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series will next race
three consecutive nights at three different tracks beginning this
Friday at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, IL.
