LAKEVILLE,
IN -- The O'Reilly World of Outlaws were rained out on Wednesday at
Wisconsin's Powercom Park and Friday night in Joliet, IL before
successfully completing two single-night shows at I-55 Raceway in
Pevely, MO on Saturday and at Terre Haute, IN on Sunday. When the week
was over, Team-Hoosier had won its 47th race of the season in 49
nights of racing, while finishing 1-2-3 in its 40th consecutive race.
On Saturday, Tyler Walker came from fifth place to win the 40-lap
feature at I-55 Raceway. The win was young Walker's second of the
season and was worth $10,000. While on Sunday night, it was Danny
Lasoski taking the win from the pole after setting fast time of the
night at the Terre Haute Action Track.
PEVELY, MO (July 12) -- Thirty-seven cars were
entered in qualifying with 34 of them electing to post times using
Hoosier tires and the remaining three drivers split among the two
other competing tire brands. Paul McMahan set fast time of the evening
with his lap of 10.494 seconds around the 3/8-mile oval with
Hoosier-shod drivers capturing the 11 fastest times in qualifying.
Steve Kinser, Kraig Kinser, Danny Lasoski, Joey Saldana, Jason Sides,
Tyler Walker, Daryn Pittman, Donny Schatz, Kelly Kinser and Tim
Shaffer rounded out the top eleven qualifiers.
In a rare occurrence, all three tire brands captured
heat race wins with Hoosier claiming two wins in the four heat races
contested. Jeremy Campbell won the first heat, while Danny Smith
captured the third heat.
Team-Hoosier went undefeated in Dash competition
during the evening when Joey Saldana and Jason Sides each posted wins.
In the 40-lap feature, Joey Saldana took the race lead
at the drop of the green flag. Saldana, using a Hoosier RD12/D12
combination, led the race's first 28 laps before giving way to fifth
starting Tyler Walker who used a pair of Hoosier D12's. From there,
Walker defended the top position en route to the $10,000 win--his
second of the season.
Ironically, Walker almost didn't make the feature due
to engine troubles. The #35 car's engine soured in the first Dash
limping home to a third place finish and had to be replaced for the
feature. Walker's crew (with the help of other team's crew members)
were able to make the necessary changes in time to make the start of
the night's final race.
Finishing in second place was fourth starting Daryn
Pittman. Pittman took home $5,500 for the runner-up finish, while Joey
Saldana settled for the final podium spot. All told, the Hoosier brand
was on the first eight drivers to cross the finish line and nine of
the top ten. Jason Meyers came from 13th to finish fourth followed by
Danny Lasoski, Donny Schatz, Tim Shaffer and Kelly Kinser in fifth through
eighth. While Paul McMahan and Steve Kinser finished tenth and
eleventh, respectively.
TERRE HAUTE, IN (July 13) -- Thirty cars were
entered in qualifying Sunday night at the Terre Haute Action Track
with 28 cars riding on Hoosier tires and the other two cars split
evenly among the other two competing tire brands. With his car owner
Tony Stewart on hand after finishing second in the Winston Cup race
earlier in the day at Joliet, Danny Lasoski set fast time of the night
when he circled the Terre Haute 1/2-mile in 16.695 seconds. Lasoski
was followed by 16 more Hoosier-shod drivers in qualifying with the
D10 compound the hot ticket in time trials. Steve Kinser, Tyler
Walker, Mark Kinser, Donny Schatz, Paul McMahan, Jason Meyers, Jason
Sides, Danny Smith and Kraig Kinser rounded out the top ten
qualifiers.
All three heat races were won by Hoosier-shod drivers
with Jason Meyers, Steve Kinser and Joey Saldana each capturing wins.
Danny Lasoski won the first Dash, while Steve Kinser
won the second with the pair earning the right to start on the front
row for the feature race and keeping the Hoosier brand's undefeated
status in tact.
With 23 of the 24 starters riding on the Hoosier brand
in the 30-lap feature, it would take a major upset for Team-Hoosier
not to capture its 47th win of the season. There would be no upset
however, with Danny Lasoski, using a D12/RD15 combination, taking the
win after leading all 30 laps. Lasoski was followed by Steve Kinser
(D12/D15), Jason Meyers (D12/D15), Tyler Walker (D12/D15), Mark Kinser
(RD15/D15), Tim Shaffer, Paul McMahan, Joey Saldana, Kelly Kinser and
Jason Sides in second through tenth, respectively.
All told, the Hoosier brand notched its best performance
of the season in Outlaws competition capturing the first 21 spots in
the night's feature race. On top of that, Team-Hoosier also recorded
its 40th straight 1-2-3 finish of the season smashing last season's
best mark of 11 in a row.
Danny Lasoski added to his lead in the series
standings over Steve Kinser who is trailed by Joey Saldana, Daryn
Pittman, Donny Schatz Jason Sides, and Mark Kinser as Hoosier-shod
drivers hold the top seven spots in the standings.
The series will take a few days off before returning
to action this Friday and Saturday (July 18-19) at Eldora Speedway for
the Eldora Clash and the Kings Royal.
