RICHMOND, WI (July 12) -- Craig Dollansky picked up his fifth win of
the season Tuesday night when he took the lead from Danny Lasoski with
three laps remaining in the 35-lap feature at Cedar Lake Speedway.
While the Hoosier brand was not the only tire brand represented during
the event, it was the only brand in the night's feature race. It was
the second consecutive race and seventh of the season in the World of
Outlaws Series that the Hoosier brand was the only tire brand used in
the feature race. The win by Dollansky was the 41st consecutive win in
the series for the Hoosier brand. The Elk River, MN driver was
followed to the line by Danny Lasoski and Donny Schatz who came from
the 20th starting position to claim the final podium spot. The 1-2-3
finish was also the 36th consecutive podium sweep of the season for
Team Hoosier in World of Outlaws competition.
Thirty-three cars posted times in qualifying with all
but one driver using Hoosier tires. Jason Johnson was the fastest
qualifier at 11.463 seconds around the 3/8-mile track. Johnson was
followed by 23 other drivers using the Hoosier brand with Mark Kinser
and Terry McCarl posting the second and third fastest times as the
Hoosier brand once again dominated in qualifying.
Brandon Wimmer, Jason Sides, Donny Schatz and Ricky
Logan were the four heat race winners--all four raced on Hoosier
tires. And when the B feature ended with a 1-2-3-4 Team Hoosier
finish, it assured an all-Hoosier A feature race.
In the two Dash races, Sammy Swindell captured the
first Dash with 12th qualifier Craig Dollansky winning the second Dash
race.
In the 35-lap feature, outside pole-sitter Craig
Dollansky got the jump on Sammy Swindell to take the lead as the green
flag waved. Dollansky, using a 94" D12/RD15 (LR/RR) combination,
led the race's first 15 laps before third starting Danny Lasoski made
a pass for the lead. Lasoski, using a softer 94" RD12/D12 set up,
led the next 17 laps before Dollansky was able to move back into the lead
with just three laps to go in the race. Dollansky led the remainder of
the race to capture the $10,000 win--his fifth of the season.
The driver of the #7 VMAC Karavan car was followed to
the stripe by Danny Lasoski in second and Donny Schatz in third.
Schatz was a man on a mission after starting 20th and passing 17 cars
during the 35-lap race. Schatz elected to run the night's final race
using a pair of Hoosier D12's.
Terry McCarl finished in fourth place with Brooke
Tatnell matching Schatz's feat passing 17 cars after starting 22nd.
Tatnell opted to use a 92" RD12/RD15 combination. Tim Shaffer,
Joey Saldana, Jason Meyers, Brian Paulus and Ricky Logan finished
sixth through tenth, respectively.
Steve Kinser currently holds a 64 point advantage over
Danny Lasoski in the World of Outlaws driver rankings with Donny
Schatz (4552), Craig Dollansky (4538) and Jason Meyers (4527) battling
it out for third.
The World of Outlaws Series is back in action tonight
at Hartford Speedway in Hartford, MI where Open Wheel Dirt Product
Manager Neil Cowman and Hoosier President and CEO Bob Newton will both
be in attendance.
