LAKEVILLE,
IN (July 12-14) -- Team-Hoosier continues to be as hot as the
temperatures across the country with three more 1-2-3 finishes in the
Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series--the 38th podium sweep in 54 nights
of action. On Friday at Route 66 Raceway, Hoosier-shod drivers
captured the top nine spots in the 30-lap feature. The race was won by
Joey Saldana. The following night at I-55 Raceway, Daryn Pittman led
39 of the 40-lap feature which had 10 of the top 11 finishers riding
on the Hoosier brand. The weekend was capped off on Sunday night with
Danny Lasoski capturing the 30-lap feature at the Terre Haute Action
Track where eight of the top ten finishers rode on Hoosier tires.
ROUTE 66 RACEWAY - FRIDAY
JOLIET, IL (July 12) -- Forty-one cars were entered in qualifying on
the Route 66 Raceway 1/2-mile track with 33 drivers opting for the
Hoosier brand. The top six times were posted by Hoosier-shod drivers.
Craig Dollansky set fast time of 14.260 seconds and was followed by
Joey Saldana, Danny Lasoski, Kraig Kinser, Steve Kinser and Mark
Kinser.
Randy Hannagan, Tim Shaffer, Danny Wood and Larry
Ball, Jr. each won their respective heats. All four drivers compete on
Hoosier tires.
Craig Dollansky and Joey Saldana each captured a dash
win and earned the right to start the 30-lap feature on the front row.
In the feature, 20 of the 24 race starters rode on
Hoosier tires. Craig Dollansky and Joey Saldana swapped the lead five
times before Saldana emerged the winner. Saldana was using a 94"
D12 on his left rear and Hoosier's new RD15 tire on his right rear
position en route to the $10,000 win. Steve Kinser, using a D12/D15
combination took second place and pocketed $5,500. Mark Kinser
finished third on a 94" RD12/D12 set-up.
Team-Hoosier captured the top nine positions in the
final race of the night. Rounding out the top nine were Danny Lasoski,
Donny Schatz, Daryn Pittman, Tim Shaffer, Danny Wood and Randy
Hannagan in fourth through ninth, respectively.
I-55 RACEWAY - SATURDAY
PEVELY, MO (July 13) -- Thirty-three cars were entered in
qualifying--27 of them on Hoosiers. Brad Furr set fast time of the
night with the eight fastest times being posted by Hoosier-shod
drivers. Furr's time around the 1/3-mile oval was 11.122 seconds
(107.894 mph). Furr was followed by Steve Kinser, Joey Saldana, Tim
Shaffer, Randy Hannagan, Daryn Pittman, Blake Feese and Craig
Dollansky in second though eighth, respectively.
Three of the four heat winners won their heat races on
the Hoosier brand. Craig Dollansky, Sammy Swindell and Jerrod Hull
each won a preliminary 10-lap heat race on Hoosier tires.
Once again, both dash races were won by drivers using
the Hoosier brand which provided an "all-Hoosier" front row
for the 40-lap feature. Blake Feese and Craig Dollansky were the dash
winners.
In the 40-lap feature, Blake Feese led the first lap
before giving way to fourth starting Daryn Pittman. The defending
Gumout Champion led the final 39 laps to capture the $10,000 win--his
third A-main win of the season. Pittman used a Hoosier D15/D20
combination in capturing the win. Finishing runner-up was Craig
Dollansky on a pair of D15's. Joey Saldana rounded out the top three.
Saldana opted to run the 40-lapper on a D20/D25 combination.
Ten of the first eleven drivers to cross the finish
line were riding on the Hoosier brand. Rounding out those positions
for Team-Hoosier were: Steve Kinser (4th); Danny Lasoski (5th); Tim
Shaffer (7th); Mark Kinser (8th); Brad Furr (9th); Randy Hannagan
(10th); and Donny Schatz (11th).
TERRE HAUTE ACTION TRACK - SUNDAY
TERRE HAUTE, IN (July 14) -- Thirty cars posted time in qualifying
on the Terre Haute 1/2-mile track. Danny Lasoski set fast time of 16.854
seconds followed by Danny Wood at 17.042 seconds.
All three heat races were again won by drivers using
the Hoosier brand. Craig Dollansky, Tim Shaffer and Daryn Pittman were
the heat race winners.
Both dashes were also won by Hoosier-shod drivers.
Brad Furr captured the first dash, while Donny Schatz won the second.
In the 30-lap feature, Brad Furr took the early race
lead before giving way to Donny Schatz on lap eight. Schatz held the
lead until lap ten, when defending series champion Danny Lasoski took
over the lead. Lasoski led the remainder of the way to capture the
$10,000 win. Donny Schatz and Brad Furr wound up second and third,
respectively. The finish was the 38th podium sweep of the season in 54
races for Team-Hoosier. This was the eighth consecutive 1-2-3 finish
for Team-Hoosier in Outlaw competition.
Other top ten finishers on the Hoosier brand were Joey
Saldana, Daryn Pittman, Steve Kinser and Craig Dollansky fifth through
eighth, respectively. Danny Wood finished tenth for the purple
team.
Currently, eleven of the top twelve drivers in the
Pennzoil World of Outlaws standings ride on Hoosier tires. Steve
Kinser is in the lead with 6142 points. Kinser is followed by Danny
Lasoski with 6133 markers. Craig Dollansky, Joey Saldana, Mark Kinser,
Donny Schatz and Tim Shaffer round out the "all-Hoosier" top
seven.
The series next travels to famous Eldora Speedway this
Friday and Saturday for the running of the Kings Royal. The series has
visited Eldora twice in the 2002 season with both races ending in a
1-2-3 finish for Team-Hoosier.
