ROSSBURG,
OH (July 16-17) -- Dale Blaney and Jason Sides added their names to
the ever-growing list of first time winners this season in the World
of Outlaws Series as each were winners during the annual two-night
Kings Royal event at Eldora Speedway. In Friday's race, Dale Blaney
swapped the lead several times with Danny Lasoski before pulling ahead
for good in the closing stages of 30-lap preliminary race. On
Saturday, Jason Sides survived the 40-lap feature to claim the Kings
Royal win and pocket the $50,000 prize. Both nights, as have most the
last three seasons, ended in a 1-2-3 finish for the Hoosier
brand.
THE NIGHT BEFORE THE KING'S ROYAL
ROSSBURG, OH (July 16) -- Thirty-eight cars were on hand Friday
for the 30-lap preliminary race leading up to Saturday's $50,000
coronation of this year's sprint car King of Eldora Speedway. All but
one driver rode on Hoosier tires with Joey Saldana posting the top
time among Hoosier-shod drivers in qualifying. Saldana circled the
1/2-mile track in 13.343 seconds followed by Craig Dollansky and Steve
Kinser.
Paul McMahan, Dean Jacobs, Jason Meyers and Sammy
Swindell were the four heat race winners. Each rode to their
respective 8-lap wins on Hoosiers. Dale Blaney won the first Dash
race, while Paul McMahan captured the second Dash.
In the 30-lap feature, all but one of the feature
starters rode atop the Hoosier brand. When it was all over, Dale
Blaney had captured the win using a 92" Hoosier D12/RD15 (LR/RR)
set up. He was followed to the stripe by Danny Lasoski (94"
D10/D15), Joey Saldana (94" D12/D12), Steve Kinser (94"
D15/D15), and Chad Kemenah.
Jason Meyers, Donny Schatz, Sammy Swindell, Craig
Dollansky and Daryn Pittman rounded out the top ten in sixth through
tenth, respectively. All told, the first 16 drivers to cross the
finish line rode on Hoosier racing tires.
KINGS ROYAL
ROSSBURG, OH (July 17) -- The second and final night of the Kings
Royal event had 42 sprint car teams filling the pits on Saturday--all
in hopes of claiming the $50,000 payout offered by Eldora Speedway
owner Earl Baltes. Thirty-seven cars rode on Hoosier tires with the
remaining five teams split (4-1) among the other two competing tire
brands. Danny Lasoski set fast time of the night with a lap of 14.645
seconds. The 2002 series champion was followed by Mark Kinser, Paul
McMahan, Joey Saldana and Brian Paulus as Team Hoosier claimed 30 of
the top 31 times in qualifying.
Danny Smith, Dale Blaney, Steve Kinser, Chad Kemenah
and Phil Gressman were the heat race winners. All five rode to their
respective wins on Hoosier tires.
In the 40-lap feature, 23 of the 24 starters used the
Hoosier brand. When the race was over, Jason Sides survived an
eventful race to claim his first Outlaws win of the season and the
$50,000 winner's payout. Sides rode to the win using a 94"
D15/D20 combination. Rod Chaney finished in second place followed by
Chad Kemenah, Brian Paulus and Dean Jacobs.
Tim Shaffer, finished in sixth place followed by Mark
Kinser, Donny Schatz, Craig Dollansky and Butch Schroeder. The Hoosier
brand was used by the first 18 cars to cross the line in the night's
feature race.
Hoosier engineer John Reynolds attended the two-night
program and came away with valuable information that will be used to
further strengthen the Hoosier compound line up with hopes of
improving Team Hoosier's 44-1 record in the series.
The World of Outlaws Series will travel east making
another swing through Pennsylvania beginning this Tuesday, July 20th,
at Lernerville Speedway. Earlier this year the series was at the
facility with Steve Kinser taking the win. Going into this past
weekend, the Hoosier brand had amassed a 50-0 mark this year at
central Pennsylvania tracks having no tire-rule.
