KNIGHT BEFORE THE KINGS ROYAL
ROSSBURG, OH (July 18) -- Thirty-five cars were entered in qualifying with 31 of them trusting the Hoosier brand and the remaining four drivers split among the other two competing tire brands. Danny Lasoski set fast time of the evening with his blistering 13.174 second lap on the super-fast 1/2-mile track, Lasoski was followed by two more Hoosier-shod drivers. Sammy Swindell and Pennsylvania's Greg Hodnett were second and third in opening night qualifying. All told the Hoosier brand was used by eight of the top nine qualifiers.

All four preliminary heat races were won by members of Team-Hoosier. Jim Nier won the first 8-lap heat race, while Randy Hannagan, Tim Shaffer and Joey Saldana won heats two, three and four, respectively.

Both Dash races were also won by drivers using Hoosier tires. Danny Lasoski won the first Dash and Steve Kinser won the final Dash.

In the 30-lap feature, only two tire brands were represented with Hoosier drivers totaling 22 of the 24 starters. Danny Lasoski took the early race lead before making contact with the outside wall after leading through lap number 12. On the restart, Steve Kinser took over the race lead using a pair of Hoosier D15's. Kinser led the remainder of the distance en route to claiming the $10,000 opening night win. Sammy Swindell crossed the line in second but was later disqualified after failing to make the minimum weight rule at the scales. As a result, second place was awarded to Tyler Walker. Walker won $5,500 for his runner-up effort using a pair of D12's. Completing the list of top three finishers was Joey Saldana who opted to use a D12/RD15 (LR/RR) combination, while pocketing $3,200.

All told, the Hoosier brand was used by the first nine drivers to cross the finish line. Jason Meyers, Donny Schatz, Daryn Pittman, Mark Kinser, Shane Stewart and Tim Shaffer finished fourth through ninth, respectively.

Due to the weight rule infraction, Sammy Swindell was scored with a 24th place finish.
