SARVER,
PA (July 20) -- Sammy Swindell came from fourth place to capture the
win at Lernerville Speedway Tuesday night in the World of Outlaws
Series. The victory edged the season total for Team Hoosier to 45 in a
row in the series as the purple crew inches ever closer to last year's
record 50 wins in a row. Swindell was followed by Steve Kinser and
Mark Kinser in second and third with all three drivers opting to use
an identical 94" RD12/D12 (LR/RR) combination for the 35-lap
feature race. At some point during the race, all three drivers took
turns leading during the event. It was also the 40th consecutive 1-2-3
finish for the Hoosier brand.
As always, the sprint race in Pennsylvania drew a huge
field attempting to gain entry into the starting grid for the night's
feature race. Forty-six cars attempted to make the field with 37 of
them on Hoosier tires, while the remaining nine drivers were split
(7-2) among the other two competing tire brands.
Pennsylvania Posse member Greg Hodnett captured fast
time of the night circling the 1/2-mile oval in a scant 12.951
seconds. The Hoosier-shod Hodnett was the only one to break the
13-second barrier during the night of racing. Hodnett was followed in
qualifying by Mark Kinser, Steve Kinser, Sammy Swindell and Ed Lynch,
Jr. as the top 25 times in qualifying were recorded by drivers using
the Hoosier brand.
Lance Dewease, Jason Meyers, Rob Eyler and Chad Hill
were the four heat race winners, while Greg Hodnett and Mark Kinser
were the two Dash winners giving both the Outlaw regulars and the PA
locals two heat wins and one Dash win each to even the score on the
night.
In the feature, all 26 reported starters rode on
Hoosier tires. Mark Kinser took the initial race lead from the outside
pole. Kinser led through lap 13, when cousin Steve Kinser moved into
the race lead after starting third. The defending series champion held
on to the lead until lap 24, when fourth starting Sammy Swindell moved
into the lead for good taking the checkered flag on lap 35.
Greg Hodnett finished in fourth place followed by Joey
Saldana, Paul McMahan, Tim Shaffer, Donny Schatz, Danny Lasoski and
Lance Dewease.
The World of Outlaws Series is back in action this
Thursday, (July 22nd) when they begin a three-race show at
Pennsylvania's Williams Grove Speedway where the Hoosier brand has
been undefeated the past three seasons amassing a 50-0 mark
there.
