HARTFORD,
OH (July 28) -- When Steve Kinser captured his 11th world of Outlaws
Series A-feature win of the year last night at Sharon Speedway, it
also marked the 50th consecutive race in the the series won by a
driver using the Hoosier brand--matching last year's season-best win
streak. Amazingly, the win streak last season also had the Hoosier
brand finishing 1-2-3 in those 50 events. This year the current streak
of podium sweeps for Team Hoosier stands at 45 and counting with Donny
Schatz and Kraig Kinser finishing behind the defending series champion
last night at Sharon Speedway which is operated by the Blaney family.
A huge field of 47 cars jammed the Sharon Speedway
pits Wednesday night hoping for a shot at the $10,000 prize. A total
of 40 of the 47 cars rode on Hoosier tires with the seven other teams
using another competing tire brand. In qualifying, Steve Kinser set
fast time of the night with a lap of 12.906 seconds around the
3/8-mile oval. Kinser was followed by Danny Lasoski, Mark Kinser, Dave
Blaney and Chad Kemenah. All told, the top 21 times in qualifying were
recorded by Hoosier-shod drivers. In fact, Kinser's time was nearly a
half second faster than the quickest car on the opposition's tire
brand.
Dale Blaney, who likely knows every inch of the Sharon
Speedway track, won the first heat race ahead of Steve Kinser, while
Jarrod Larson, Rob Chaney and Brian Paulus were winners in the other
three heat races. Paul McMahan won the first Dash and the privilege of
starting on the pole for the night's feature race, while Joey Saldana
won the second Dash joining McMahan in the front row for the feature.
After all the qualifying races were completed the
field was finally set for the 30-lap feature with all 26 starters
riding atop Hoosier tires. It was the 11th time this season that only
Hoosier-shod cars made up the entire field for the night's feature
race. Joey Saldana got the jump at the start leading the race's first
11 circuits before fifth starting Steve Kinser took over the race
lead. Kinser led the rest of the way to take the win and run the
Hoosier brand's win streak to an amazing 50 in-a-row. Kinser used a
94" D12/D15 (LR/RR) combination en route to the win. Donny
Schatz, who started ninth, finished in second place using a 94"
D12/RD15 set up. Kraig Kinser took the final podium spot using the
same rear tire combination as the race winner.
Chad Kemenah finished in fourth place followed by Joey
Saldana, Tim Shaffer, Jason Meyers, Danny Lasoski, Greg Hodnett and
Mark Kinser in fifth through tenth.
With his win, Steve Kinser increases his lead in the
World of Outlaws driver standings to 80 points over Danny Lasoski.
The World of Outlaw Series is back in action this
Friday, July 30th, at Iona Raceway Park's 1/2-mile oval in Lake
Odessa, MI.
