BRANDON,
SD (July 2) -- Tuesday night, Steve Kinser led every lap of the 30-lap
Pennzoil World of Outlaws feature in front of the largest crowd ever
at Husets Speedway. The victory for the "King of the
Outlaws" also broke the tie for the series point lead that had
existed between himself and Danny Lasoski prior to the event. The win
also extended Team-Hoosier's record in the series this season to 42
wins in 46 events as the series travels up to North Dakota for the
3-day "Duel in the Dakotas".
Twenty-nine cars were on hand for qualifying on the
3/8-mile Husets Speedway with Joey Saldana posting the fastest time
among Hoosier-shod drivers. Saldana's time was 10.693 seconds. Eight
of the top ten times in qualifying were posted by drivers using
Hoosier tires.
All three heat race winners used Hoosier tires. Donny
Schatz, Tyler Walker and Mark Kinser each captured their respective
heat races.
Both dash races were also won by Hoosier-shod drivers
making it an "all-Hoosier" front row for the night's 30-lap
feature. Craig Dollansky won the first dash, while Steve Kinser won
the second dash.
In the 30-lap feature, 21 of the 24 starters were
members of Team-Hoosier. At the drop of the green flag, Steve Kinser
got the jump from the outside pole position to capture the lead on lap
number one. The 16-time series champion led every lap using a Hoosier
94" D12 left rear and a D15 right rear compound combination.
Kinser also regained the series point lead as a result of the
flag-to-flag win.
Other top ten finishers using the Hoosier brand were:
Craig Dollansky, third; Tim Shaffer, fifth; Danny Lasoski, sixth; Brad
Furr, seventh; Sammy Swindell, ninth; and Tyler Walker, tenth.
The Pennzoil World of Outlaws resumes action beginning
on the 4th of July at Red River Valley Speedway for the "Duel in
the Dakotas". Last year at the facility, Steve Kinser and Sammy
Swindell were winners on the preliminary nights, while Craig Dollansky
captured the finale. All three drivers compete on the Hoosier brand in
2002.
