ROSSBURG,
OH (August 2) -- Steve Kinser was the latest Pennzoil World of Outlaws
Series driver to end up in the winner's circle on Hoosier's new RD15
compound. The sixth starting Kinser opted to run a D12/RD15
combination en route to capturing the 35-lap Night Before The Big One
race at Eldora Speedway Friday night--passing Sammy Swindell with 16
laps remaining. The finish also extended Team-Hoosier's win streak to
28 wins in a row in the series and marked the 46th time in 63 nights,
Team Hoosier finished 1-2-3 in the final race of the night. Friday
night was even more dominant with Hoosier-shod cars sweeping the first
13 finishing positions in the 35-lap feature.
Twenty-eight cars posted times in qualifying on the
"Worlds Fastest Half-Mile"--25 of them on Hoosiers. Chad
Kemenah set fast time of 13.202 seconds and was followed by three more
Hoosier outfitted sprinters. Blake Feese, Daryn Pittman and Greg
Hodnett were second through fourth in qualifying.
All three heat races were won by Hoosier-shod cars.
Paul McMahan, Jeff Shepard and Tim Shaffer won heats one through
three, respectively.
Jason Myers and Sammy Swindell were winners in the two
dash races and earned the right to start the feature on the front row.
In the 35-lap feature, Sammy Swindell took the early
race lead and led until lap 20, when sixth starting Steve Kinser moved
into the lead for good. Kinser was using Hoosier's new RD15 compound
for his right rear compound selection. The RD15 compound has now been
on five of the last six race winners in the Pennzoil World of Outlaws
Series.
Kinser earned $10,000 for the win. Finishing in second
place was Sammy Swindell on a pair of D12's. Swindell collected $5,500
for the runner-up finish. Rounding out the 46th Team-Hoosier 1-2-3
sweep was Daryn Pittman finishing third and pocketing $3,200 after
starting tenth. Pittman used the same rear compound combination as the
race winner.
All told, Hoosier tires were used by the first 13
drivers to cross the finish line. Chad Kemenah, Craig Dollansky, Joey
Saldana, Mark Kinser, Jason Myers, Greg Hodnett, Blake Feese, Brad
Furr, Kenny Jacobs and Tim Shaffer finished fourth through thirteenth,
respectively.
Hoosier Open Wheel Dirt Product Manager Neil Cowman
attended the event and had this to say about the race, "I was
very pleased with the performance of the tires tonight." Cowman
added, "It was a clean sweep of every contest by
Team-Hoosier--and the RD15 compound has really been phenomenal since
it was rolled out less than two weeks ago."
Steve Kinser extended his point lead in the series
with the win. Currently, Kinser sits atop the series standings with
7151 points, followed by Joey Saldana with 6916 points. Craig
Dollansky is in third place with 6885 points. Danny Lasoski fell to
fourth place (6883) in the standings as he continues to recuperate
from injuries sustained at Williams Grove Speedway last week. Mark
Kinser, Tim Shaffer and Donny Schatz round out the top seven in the
standings. All seven drivers compete on Hoosier tires.
The Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series will resume
action this Wednesday through Saturday at Knoxville Raceway for the
42nd annual Knoxville Nationals.
