ROSSBURG,
OH (August 8) -- After seeing their 50-race win streak snapped at
Hartford Speedway Park on Wednesday, Team-Hoosier regrouped to finish
1-2-3 in the "Night Before the Big One" at Eldora Speedway
on Friday. Leading the way was young Jason Meyers who collected his
second feature win of the season subbing for the injured Craig
Dollansky in the #7 VMAC sprint car. Meyers was followed to the line
by Jac Haudenschild and Steve Kinser giving the Hoosier brand its 53rd
podium sweep of the season in the O'Reilly World of Outlaws Series.
The win was Team-Hoosier's 58th win in 61 nights of racing. Looking
back, the Hoosier brand went nearly five months being the only tire
brand on the podium before Wednesday's Hartford race. Even then, the
Hoosier brand still managed to finish second through tenth in the
30-lap feature. Next up for the series is the Knoxville Nationals in
Iowa where Hoosier Open Wheel Dirt Product Manager Neil Cowman will be
attending the annual four-day event.
Thirty-two cars were entered in qualifying at Eldora
Speedway's 1/2-mile oval with Kasey Kahne setting fast time among
Hoosier-shod drivers. Kahne's time was 13.201 seconds as 29 of the 32
drivers rode on Hoosier tires. He was followed by Danny Lasoski and
Greg Hodnett.
All four heat races were won by members of
Team-Hoosier. Randy Hannagan, Dale Blaney, Tim Shaffer and Daryn
Pittman were the four heat race winners.
Both Dash races were also won by drivers using Hoosier
tires. Ryan Coniam won the first Dash, while Donny Schatz won the
second Dash.
In the 30-lap feature, fifth starting Jason Meyers,
using a pair of Hoosier D15's, took the lead on lap 22, en route to
collecting his second win of the season. Meyers pocketed $10,000 for
the win. Jac Haudenschild finished in second place using a pair of
D12's. Haudenschild started back in 10th place before finishing
runner-up to Meyers. Haudenschild's winnings were $5,500. Rounding out
the top three was ninth starting Steve Kinser. Kinser earned $3,200
for the final podium spot. Kinser also used the same rear compound
combination as the race winner.
Other Hoosier-shod drivers finishing in the top ten
were; Sammy Swindell (5th), Ryan Coniam (6th), Kasey Kahne (7th), Greg
Hodnett (8th), Danny Lasoski (9th). As impressive as Haudenschild's
run was coming from tenth to finish runner-up, Greg Hodnett did him
one better starting 17th before finishing in 8th place.
Jason Meyers commented after the win, "D.J.
Lindsey and Bryan Sundby have given me a great car, not only tonight,
but the whole time I've been in this car. Scott Benic was here helping
out tonight as well, and the Maxim Chassis and Hoosier tires worked to
perfection."
Steve Kinser continues to maintain a slim 21-point
lead in the season-long driver standings with 7310 points over Danny
Lasoski who has 7289 points. Joey Saldana (6937), Daryn Pittman
(6829), Donny Schatz (6453) and Jason Sides (6354) round out the top
six in the rankings. All six drivers race on Hoosier tires.
The World of Outlaws Series is back in action this
Wednesday for the four-night Knoxville Nationals in Knoxville, IA.
Hoosier's Neil Cowman is scheduled to attend the event to monitor and
evaluate tire performance, while answering any questions the race
teams may have.
