CITY, CO (August 17) -- Just when you think it couldn't get any better
for Team Hoosier,...it does! For the first time this season, the only
tire brand used by every entrant in Tuesday's World of Outlaws Series
race at Rocky Mountain Speedway was the Hoosier brand. The event
attracted 34 sprint cars--all using Hoosier's Tires Designed for
Champions. When the race was over, Craig Dollansky and the #7
VMAC/Hawaiian Tropic car was parked in the winner's circle after
leading all 35 laps in the night's feature race.
Thirty-four cars took turns in qualifying hoping to
claim fast time honors. Danny Lasoski smashed the previous track
record by circling the 3/8-mile oval in 12.014 seconds. The recent
Knoxville Nationals champion actually broke his own track record set a
year ago when he recorded a time of 12.247 seconds. Amazingly, 12
other drivers also broke the old track record as the racing was fast
all night. Kraig Kinser was second in qualifying followed by Steve
Kinser, Randy Hannagan and Craig Dollansky.
Tim Shaffer won the first heat, while Jason Meyers,
Daryn Pittman and Rich Bubak were the other three heat race winners.
In the two Dash races, Craig Dollansky won the first Dash and the
right to start the 35-lap feature race on the pole, while Danny Wood
won the second and final Dash.
In the 35-lap feature, Craig Dollansky took the lead
at the drop of the green flag using a 94" Hoosier D12/RD15
(LR/RR) combination. Dollansky went on to lead every lap en route to
collecting his fifth A-main win (and sixth overall win) of the season.
Dollansky's margin of victory was approximately two car-lengths. The
Elk River, MN driver was followed to the finish line by Kraig Kinser
who opted to run the 35-lapper using a 94" D12/D15 set up. Danny
Wood finished in third place in the 11h--substituting for Paul
McMahan.
In the winner's circle Dollansky commented, "I
can’t say enough about these Hoosier tires, Charlie Garrett racing
engines, and Pro shocks--all of the guys that stick by this
team."
Danny Lasoski, after setting fast time of the event, finished
in fourth place as he continues to close the distance between himself
and Steve Kinser in the overall points chase. Steve Kinser finished in
fifth place on Tuesday followed by Joey Saldana, Tim Kaeding, Jason
Sides, Donny Schatz and Tim Shaffer.
The World of Outlaws Series is back in action this
Friday and Saturday at Montana's Billings Motorsports Park.
Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. would like to thank all 34
teams competing in last night's event for making the decision to ride
on Hoosier tires.
