JETMORE,
KS (August 18) -- Australia's Brooke Tatnell passed World of Outlaws
Series veteran Sammy Swindell on the final lap of the 30-lap feature
at Jetmore Motorplex Monday night to capture his first career feature
win in the series. The win was extra special for Tatnell who was able
to collect his first series victory in front of his dad who had not
been to the United States in four years. The race was special in other
ways for Team-Hoosier with all but one of the 30 cars that started the
night of racing mounted on Hoosier tires, but by the end of the night,
even the lone hold out had made the switch to the Hoosier brand making
the 24-car feature an all-Hoosier field.
Thirty cars posted times in qualifying on the 3/8-mile
Jetmore track with 29 cars riding on USA-made Hoosier tires. Jason
Sides set fast time of the night with a lap of 12.977 seconds. He was
followed by Tim Shaffer, Brian Brown, Danny Lasoski, Donny Schatz,
Toni Lutar, Sammy Swindell, Brooke Tatnell and Joey Saldana in second
through ninth, respectively. All nine drivers took times using the
Hoosier brand.
Kraig Kinser, Paul McMahan and Daryn Pittman were the
three heat race winners. All three rode on Hoosiers in capturing their
8-lap heat wins.
Sammy Swindell and Brooke Tatnell were the two Dash
winners earning the right to start the feature on the front row.
In the 30-lap feature, all 24 competitors rode atop
Hoosier tires. At the drop of the green flag, Sammy Swindell
immediately took the lead from the pole position. Swindell, using a
D15/D20 combination, led until the final lap when Brooke Tatnell
passed the cagey veteran to take his first feature win in the World of
Outlaws Series. Tatnell opted to run the 30-lapper using a 92"
RD15/D20 set up. Sammy Swindell finished in second place followed by
Joey Saldana. Saldana used a D12/D15 rear tire combination to take the
final podium spot.
Steve Kinser finished fourth followed by Danny
Lasoski, Paul McMahan, Jason Meyers, Dennis Moore, Jr., Daryn Pittman
and Tim Shaffer to round out the top ten. Kraig Kinser, Brian Brown,
Jason Johnson, Toni Lutar, Randy Hannagan, Johnny Herrera, Jeremy
Campbell, Jason Sides, Travis Rilat, Donny Schatz, Brian Paulus, Shane
Stewart, C.J. Johnson, and Steve King finished 11th through 24th,
respectively, in the final race of the night.
Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. congratulates Brooke Tatnell
on capturing his first career feature win in the World of Outlaws
Series while riding on Hoosier racing tires.
The series will be back in action Tuesday night,
August 19, at Colorado's Rocky Mountain National Speedway.
