GROVE, OR (August 27) -- Danny Lasoski took the lead from Joey Saldana
on lap 16 and never looked back winning his first race since suffering
serious injuries at Williams Grove Speedway over four weeks ago. It
was the 53rd time Hoosier-shod cars swept the top three and the 38th
consecutive win in the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series. Team-Hoosier
also extended their season record to 69 victories in 73 nights of
racing in the series.
Thirty-one cars were on hand Tuesday night at Cottage
Grove Speedway with 28 competitors opting to use Hoosier tires. Joey
Saldana posted the fastest qualifying time with a clocking of 12.337
seconds around the 1/4-mile oval as Hoosier-shod cars posted the top
16 times in qualifying.
Two of the three 10-lap heat races were won by
Hoosier-shod cars. Steve Kinser and P.J. Chesson each won their
respective heats on Hoosier tires.
Team-Hoosier drivers Donny Schatz and Danny Lasoski
were the winners of the two 7-lap dash races which placed the two on
the front row for the night's 40-lap A-main event.
In the main event, Danny Lasoski, on a D12/RD15
combination, took the lead from Joey Saldana on lap 16. From there, he
led the remainder of the race to take the 40-lap win. The win was
Lasoski's 16th feature win in World of Outlaws events this
year.
Finishing second through fifth using a D12/D15
combination were current series points leader Steve Kinser, Danny
Wood, Jason Meyer and Craig Dollansky. Completing the list of top ten
finishers on Hoosiers were Brad Furr in sixth, Randy Hannagan in
seventh and Mark Kinser in tenth.
The World of Outlaws Series now moves to Calistoga, CA
for a three day event starting Friday, August 30th, and running
through the Labor Day Holiday.
