WA (August 27-28) -- Defending World of Outlaws Series champion Steve
Kinser captured two more wins over the weekend driving the
Hoosier-shod #11 Quaker State sprint car at Grays Harbor Raceway.
Saturday's finale also marked the fifth consecutive race that the
Hoosier brand was the only tire brand used by every competitor in the
pits. It was also the 62nd consecutive win by the Hoosier brand in the
series.
PRELIMINARY
ELMA, WA (August 27) -- Fifty cars jammed the pits of the 3/8-mile
high banked clay oval of Grays Harbor Raceway on Friday. Craig
Dollansky was the fast qualifier at 11.915 seconds using a Hoosier D10
right rear. Steve Kinser was second with a lap of 11.930
seconds.
Heat race winners included Joey Saldana, Jason Meyers,
Tim Kaeding and Tim Shaffer. Donny Schatz was the winner of the first
Dash race, while Brandon Wimmer captured the second Dash.
In the night's 25-lap feature, pole sitter Donny
Schatz took the lead from the drop of the green flag. Schatz, using a
92" D10/RD12 (LR/RR) combination led the race's first circuit
before third starting Steve Kinser moved into the lead. Kinser, using
a 92" D10/RD12, led the rest of the way to capture the opening
night win and pocket $5,000 in the process.
Following Kinser to the line was Craig Dollansky who
rode atop a pair of RD12's. Daryn Pittman was third after starting
fifth followed by Donny Schatz and Mark Kinser. Jonathan Allard was
sixth followed by Jason Meyers, Joey Saldana, Brandon Wimmer and Jason
Sides. The first four finishers were locked into the top four spot in
Saturday's Dash race.
FINALE
ELMA, WA (August 28) -- With the top four finishers in Friday's race
watching, 43 cars posted times in qualifying with Shane Stewart
setting fast time. Stewart's time was 12.222 seconds. He was followed
by Jason Sides, Tim Kaeding, Danny Wood and Kraig Kinser atop the
qualifying leaderboard.
Jesse Whitney won the night's first heat race, while
Jeff Hodgson, Mark Kinser and Kraig Kinser were the winners in the
other three heats. In the 5-lap Dash race, Steve Kinser took the win
earning the right to start the $12,000-to-win feature on the pole.
In the 40-lap feature, Steve Kinser captured the win
leading flag-to-flag using a pair of D12's. Finishing in second place
was Craig Dollansky using a D12/RD15 combination. Donny Schatz
finished in third place followed by Danny Lasoski and Kraig Kinser.
Daryn Pittman finished in sixth place followed by Jason Sides, Brian
Paulus, Jason Meyers and Tim Kaeding.
