COTTAGE
GROVE, OR (August 31) -- We all knew it was just a matter of time
before Kraig Kinser, son of 18-time World of Outlaws Series champion
Steve Kinser, won his first Outlaws feature. Well, the wait is over.
Last night, the 19-year-old driver came from sixth place to take the
lead from Craig Dollansky on lap 29 of the 40-lap feature finishing in
front of his father who finished in second place and capped off an unforgettable
night for the Kinser family.
Thirty-two sprint cars filled the pits of Cottage
Grove Speedway Tuesday night with 31 of them riding on Hoosier tires.
Danny Lasoski set fast time of the night with a time 11.053 seconds around
the 1/4-mile oval. Kraig Kinser was second with a time of 11.188
seconds as Hoosier-shod drivers claimed the top 29 times posted in
qualifying.
Heat race winners included Mark Kinser, Kraig Kinser,
Randy Hannagan and Roger Crockett. Steve Kinser won the first Dash,
while Craig Dollansky won the second Dash.
In the 40-lap feature, all 24 starters rode on Hoosier
tires. It was the 17th time this season that Hoosier was the only tire
brand used in an Outlaws feature race. As the green flag waved, Craig
Dollansky took the lead from the pole. Dollansky led through lap 28,
before he was passed by Kraig Kinser who had started sixth in the
field. Kinser, using a 92" D12/D15 (LR/RR) combination, led the
remainder of the race eventually winning by ten car lengths. The
Bloomington, IN driver collected $10,000 for his first career World of
Outlaws Series feature win.
Kinser was followed to the line by his father Steve,
who opted for a little less stagger, using a 94" D12/D15
combination. Daryn Pittman (92" D12/D15) finished in third place
followed by Danny Lasoski (92" D12/D15) and Tim Kaeding
(D15/D20). Joey Saldana finished in sixth place followed by Mark
Kinser, Erin Crocker, Jason Meyers and Rick Fauver in seventh through
tenth, respectively. Tuesday's race was the fifth consecutive race won
by a member of the Kinser clan. It was also the 63rd consecutive win
in the series for Team Hoosier.
The entire Hoosier Organization would like to
congratulate Kraig Kinser on his historic win. CONGRATULATIONS
KRAIG!!!!
The World of Outlaws Series begins a three-race show
this Friday, September 3rd, at California's Calistoga
Speedway.
