FELIPE PUEBLO, NM (September 13) -- Steve Kinser won his seventh
feature race in a row at Hollywood Hills Speedway over the weekend in
the O'Reilly World of Outlaws Series. Kinser led 29 of the 30 feature
laps en route to the $10,000 win. In addition to the win, Team-Hoosier
also claimed its 68th podium sweep of the season in 78 nights of
racing when Jason Sides and Donny Schatz finished second and third,
respectively. On top of the podium sweep, the Hoosier brand was also
used by the first nine drivers to cross the finish line in the night's
feature race.
Thirty-five cars were entered in qualifying with 34
cars posting times and 32 drivers using the Hoosier brand. Donny
Schatz set fast time of the night with his 13.338 second lap around
the 3/8-mile Hollywood Hills Speedway. Jonathan Allard was second
followed by Joey Saldana, Johnny Herrera and Shane Stewart as
Team-Hoosier claimed the top five spots in qualifying.
The Hoosier brand was also undefeated in heat race
competition when Paul McMahan, Gary Taylor, Joey Saldana and Steve
Kinser each won their respective heat races.
Jason Sides and Steve Kinser were the two Dash winners
keeping the Hoosier brand undefeated during the evening's competition.
Their wins also placed the two drivers on the front row for the
feature race.
In the 30-lap feature, Jason Sides took the lead on
lap one using a Hoosier D12/RD15 (LR/RR) combination. Sides' lead
would disappear on the second lap when Steve Kinser, using a pair of
D12's, moved into the lead. Kinser led the remainder of the distance
winning by 1.2 seconds over Jason Sides and seventh starting Donny
Schatz. Kinser collected $10,000 for the win, while Jason Sides
settled for $5,500 for the runner-up spot. Schatz, using a RD12/D12
set up, pocketed $3,200 for the final podium spot.
Brian Brown, Danny Lasoski, Shane Stewart, Jason
Meyers, Paul McMahan and Joey Saldana finished fourth through ninth, respectively,
using the Hoosier brand.
Steve Kinser increased his lead in the World of
Outlaws Series to 27 points over Danny Lasoski heading into this
Friday's two-day show at Eagle Raceway in Nebraska.
Joey Saldana, Daryn Pittman, Donny Schatz and Jason
Sides round out the top six in the standings. All six drivers compete
in the series using USA-made Hoosier tires.
Also in the top ten in the standings using Hoosiers
are Paul McMahan, Tim Shaffer and Jason Meyers in eighth, ninth and
tenth place as Team-Hoosier closes in on its fourth consecutive World
of Outlaws Series championship.
