FORT
WORTH, TX (September 14) -- Danny Lasoski took the lead from Brad Furr
with three laps remaining en route to collecting the win in the 3rd
annual Texas Showdown at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday. The win was
worth $12,000 to the #20 J.D. ByRider driver. Lasoski was followed to
the finish line in the 40-lap feature by Tim Shaffer and Brad Furr for
the 59th podium sweep for Team-Hoosier this season in 82 nights of
racing. The win was also the 47th consecutive win for the Hoosier
brand in the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series.
Twenty-eight cars posted times in qualifying in the
second and final night of action on the 4/10-mile clay oval. The six
fastest times were collected by drivers on Hoosier tires. Mark Kinser
set fast time with his 13.386 second lap. Kinser was followed by Joey
Saldana, Steve Kinser, Randy Hannagan, Tyler Walker and Daryn Pittman
in second through sixth, respectively, in qualifying.
All three heat race winners were running Hoosier tires
in their respective 8-lap victories. Danny Wood, Shane Stewart and
Ricky Logan were the three heat winners.
In the single dash race contested, a Hoosier-shod
winner was a guarantee when all eight competitors rode atop the
Hoosier brand. When the 5-lap race was complete, Tim Shaffer was the
winner followed by Danny Lasoski, Brad Furr, Craig Dollansky, Joey
Saldana, Mark Kinser, Randy Hannagan and Steve Kinser in second
through eighth, respectively.
In the 40-lap feature, Polesitter Tim Shaffer took the
early race lead at the green flag. Shaffer maintained the race
lead until lap seven, when Danny Lasoski took the lead. Lasoski held
the lead until lap 32, when Brad Furr took the race lead after falling
to sixth place mid-race.
But with three laps to go, Lasoski regained the
lead--passing Furr on the outside, that's right, on the outside.
Lasoski, also known as "catfish" by car owner Tony Stewart
for his tendency to race the bottom groove, made the race winning pass
using the high groove which proved to be the faster route in the later
stages of the race.
Lasoski held on to win by 1.39 seconds over Tim
Shaffer who finished in the runner-up spot. Shaffer won $6,000, while
Brad Furr wound up taking third and collecting $4,000. All three
drivers used a Hoosier D12/D15 (LR/RR) combination in the 40-lap
finale.
All told, Team-Hoosier claimed nine of the top ten
positions in the feature race. Rounding out the top ten on Hoosier
tires were Tyler Walker (5th), Steve Kinser (6th), Craig Dollansky
(7th), Daryn Pittman (8th), Joey Saldana (9th), and Randy Hannagan
(10th).
Team-Hoosier continues to maintain a lock on the top
eight positions in the Pennzoil World of Outlaws standings. Steve
Kinser in first place with 8725 points followed by Danny Lasoski with
8430 points. Craig Dollansky, Joey Saldana, Tim Shaffer, Mark Kinser,
Brad Furr and Donny Schatz round out the top eight for the Hoosier
brand. Randy Hannagan, also on Hoosier tires, is in tenth place in the
standings giving Hoosier claim to nine of the top ten positions in the
driver standings.
The series resumes action this Wednesday, September
18th, at Greenwood, NE where the Outlaws will hold a one-night show at
Nebraska Raceway Park.
