EAGLE,
NE (September 19-20) -- The O'Reilly World Of Outlaws Series completed
a two-day show at Nebraska's Eagle Raceway over the weekend with
Team-Hoosier notching its 69th and 70th podium sweep of the season. On
Friday night, Tim Shaffer won the preliminary feature leading all 30
laps with Donny Schatz and Paul McMahan following him to the finish
line. Shaffer earned $5,000 for the opening night win. On Saturday, it
was much of the same with Donny Schatz leading all 40 laps en route to
the $15,000 win. Schatz was followed to the line by Paul McMahan and
Steve Kinser giving Team-Hoosier its 70th podium sweep of the season
in 80 nights of competition in the World of Outlaws Series.
PRELIMINARY
EAGLE, NE (September 19) -- Forty-eight cars posted times in
qualifying on the Eagle Raceway 1/3-mile clay oval with 44 drivers
riding on Hoosier tires. The remaining four cars were split among the
other two competing tire brands. Paul McMahan was fast qualifier with
a record-setting lap of 11.124 seconds. McMahan's time equaled the
time set last year by Joey Saldana who was also riding on Hoosier
tires.
There were four heat races contested with all four
resulting in Hoosier tire brand wins. Brooke Tatnell won the first
heat, while Kerry Madsen, Sammy Swindell and Danny Lasoski won heats
two through four, respectively.
Both 7-lap Dash races were also won by Hoosier-shod
drivers. Joey Saldana won the first Dash with Tim Shaffer the winner
in the final Dash.
In the feature, 22 of the 24 starters rode on Hoosier
tires with only one other tire brand represented. Tim Shaffer took the
lead from the drop of the green flag using a pair of Hoosier RD12's
(LR/RR). Shaffer led all 30-laps en route to the $5,000 opening night
win. The driver of the Beef Packers/Roth #83 was followed to the
finish line by Donny Schatz using a D10/RD12 combination. Rounding out
the top three was Paul McMahan who also opted to run the 30-lapper
using a pair of RD12's.
The final tally had the Hoosier brand capturing 17 out
of the top 18 positions in the feature race. Rounding out the list of
top ten finishers on Hoosier tires were Joey Saldana (4th), Steve
Kinser (5th), Jason Meyers (7th), Jason Sides (8th), Sammy Swindell
(9th), and Brooke Tatnell (10th).
FINALE
EAGLE, NE (September 20) -- With the top four finishers (Shaffer,
Schatz, McMahan, Saldana) locked into the first four spots in the
Dash, 42 cars posted times in qualifying--38 of them on Hoosiers.
Terry McCarl set fast time of the night with a lap of 11.615 seconds
followed by seven more Hoosier-shod drivers atop the qualifying leader
board. Daryn Pittman was second followed by Steve Kinser, Justin
Henderson, Kelly Kinser, Jason Sides, Kraig Kinser and Brooke
Tatnell.
Four heat races were completed with three of the winners
members of Team-Hoosier. Danny Lasoski, Sammy Swindell and Shane
Stewart were the three heat race winners on Hoosiers.
In the one Dash race contested, a Hoosier-shod winner
was a lock since all eight entrants rode on USA-made Hoosier tires.
Donny Schatz took the win with Tim Shaffer, Paul McMahan, Steve
Kinser, Joey Saldana, Daryn Pittman, Terry McCarl and Justin Henderson
finishing second through eighth, respectively.
In the 40-lap feature, Donny Schatz took advantage of
his pole position start to take the lead at the drop of the green
flag. Schatz, using a pair of RD12's, defended his lead status until
the checkered flag dropped to earn a tidy $15,000 payout for his
effort. Schatz was followed to the finish line by Paul McMahan and
Steve Kinser with both opting to run a Hoosier RD12/D12 combination.
McMahan also collected $7,000 for the runner-up spot. It was the
Hoosier brand's 70th podium sweep of the season in 80 nights of
competition in the World of Outlaws Series.
Preliminary winner Tim Shaffer finished in fourth
followed by Daryn Pittman, Joey Saldana, Terry McCarl and Jason Meyers
rounding out the all-Hoosier top eight. Kelly Kinser finished in tenth
place giving the Hoosier brand nine of the top ten finishing spots in
the night's final race.
With just 13 nights of racing left on the World of
Outlaws Series schedule, Steve Kinser holds a 58-point lead in the
driver standings over Danny Lasoski who finished 14th both nights at
Eagle Raceway Currently, nine of the top ten drivers in the series
standings ride on Hoosier tires as Team-Hoosier seeks its fourth
consecutive championship in sprint racing's elite series.
The series is back in action this Saturday, September
27, for a one-night show at the Talladega Short Track in Alabama. The
week-off break allows Todd Seitz (Hoosier's World of Outlaws Series
Track Service Manager) to return to Hoosier headquarters in
northwestern Indiana to restock the Hoosier trailer for the final 13
nights of racing in the series. Not surprisingly, Todd has been
Hoosier's Outlaws Track Service Manager every year the Hoosier brand
was used by the series champion.
