GREENWOOD,
NE (September 21, 22) -- Mark Kinser, riding on USA-made Hoosier
tires, completed a sweep of all three nights of competition in the
Pennzoil World of Outlaws series in the Inaugural Great Plains
Shootout at Nebraska Raceway Park. After a strong performance in the
opening preliminary on Thursday night, Team Hoosier did even better
the final two night's of racing, winning every race contested, as well
as, posting the three fastest times in qualifying.
PRELIMINARY #2
- FRIDAY (September 21)
Forty-four cars were on hand for qualifying with 30 teams electing
to place their trust in the Hoosier brand. That trust was rewarded, as
the three fastest times were Hoosier-shod cars. Mark Kinser posted
fast time when he was clocked at 14.015 seconds around the 4/10-mile
oval. Danny Lasoski and Paul McMahan completed the 1-2-3 sweep of the
fastest times for Team Hoosier. All four preliminary 8-lap O'Reilly
heat races were won by Team Hoosier. Andy Hillenburg captured the
first heat, while Jason Meyers Joey Saldana and Mike Goodman also took
heat race victories. The heat race dominance by Team Hoosier placed
fully nine of the ten competitors in the Channellock Dash. The finish
of the 8-lap race resulted in a sweep of the top five positions, as
Mark Kinser, Danny Lasoski. Mike Goodman, Andy Hillenburg and Jason
Meyers finished first through fifth respectively. Even the B and C
features resulted in a Hoosier victory, as Jason Sides and Daryn
Pittman each captured "last-chance" wins. Finally, in the
night's preliminary feature race, it was all Mark Kinser. Kinser led
the entire 30-lap race from his pole position. Kinser selected a
Hoosier D12/D15 combination as did the top three finishers. Amazingly,
nine of the top ten finishers were using Hoosier tires as Team Hoosier
captured the top seven places. Danny Lasoski, Andy Hillenburg, Joey
Saldana, Jason Meyers, Danny Wood and Mike Goodman took second through
seventh. The top four finishers were rewarded with the top four
starting positions in the A-feature on Saturday night. Also
finishing in the top ten for the purple tire brand was Johnny Herrera
in ninth and P.J. Chesson in tenth. FINALE, NIGHT #3 -
SATURDAY (September 22)
The third and final night of competition resulted in another
perfect night for Team Hoosier, as all four heat races, the B-feature,
and the A-feature were won by drivers using the Hoosier tire brand. Heat
race winners were P.J. Chesson, Mike Goodman, Johnny Herrera and Danny
Wood. The B-feature winner was Jason Johnson. In the 30-lap finale
that would determine the ultimate Great Plains Shootout winner, it was
Danny Lasoski on a pair of Hoosier D10's, jumping into the early lead
on lap one from his third starting position. Lasoski
maintained the lead until lap 17, when Mark Kinser and his pair of
Hoosier D12's moved into the race lead. Kinser would lead the rest of
the way and collect the $20,000 winner's check. Danny Lasoski took
second place and pocketed $11,000. All told, eight of the top
ten finishers were Team Hoosier members, as Andy Hillenburg and Joey
Saldana captured fourth and fifth place respectively. Rounding out the
Hoosier top ten finishers was Craig Dollansky, Jason Meyers, Johnny
Herrera and Mike Goodman seventh through tenth. Hoosier sprint tire
product manager, Neil Cowman commented after the event, "It was a
great weekend for Team Hoosier at Greenwood, finishing 1-2 all three
night's was great." Cowman added, "We are very pleased with
how the tires performed over the weekend and we are looking forward to
the upcoming Pennsylvania races where we will be introducing our new
RD12 tire which was specifically designed for, and tested on, red
dirt." Pennzoil World of Outlaws racing resumes Tuesday night a
Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania. |
