IN -- The World of Outlaws Series was back in action over the weekend
with Steve Kinser finishing ahead of his son Kraig in the 30-lap
feature at Minnesota's Jackson Speedway on Friday, while Tim Shaffer
captured his first feature win of the season in the #6 Casey's General
Store car on Saturday at Powercom Park Raceway in Beaver Dam, WI.
Shaffer, from Aliquippa, PA, led every lap of the 40-lap race. On the
heels of last year's 88-4 record, the two most recent wins now brings
Team Hoosier's current record to 73-1 in the World of Outlaws
Series.
JACKSON SPEEDWAY
JACKSON, MN (September 24) -- Thirty-eight cars were listed in qualifying
with 37 cars posting times on the 1/2-mile dirt oval. All 37
qualifiers rode on Hoosier tires. It was the 12th time this year that
every car in the pits elected to ride on Hoosier tires. Craig
Dollansky, using a Hoosier D10 right-rear tire, crushed the old track
record by 7/10th's of a second when he circled the track in a scant
15.800 seconds. Mark Kinser (15.856) was second followed by Danny
Lasoski (15.857), Jason Sides (15.969) and Steve Kinser
(16.004).
In heat race competition, Joey Saldana was a winner in
the first heat, while Jesse Hockett, Jason Meyers and Donny Schatz
emerged winners in the final three heat races. In the two Dash races,
which set the line-up for the first eight rows in the feature, Kraig
Kinser was the first Dash winner, while Terry McCarl captured the win
in the final Dash.
In the 30-lap feature, Terry McCarl got the jump from
the outside pole position to take the race's early lead. McCarl, using
a 94" D12/D15 (LR/RR) combination, maintained leader status until
lap 12, when Kraig Kinser moved into the lead using a 94" D12/D12
set-up. The younger Kinser led until lap 19, when he slipped the
cushion in turn four allowing his father Steve to take over the race
lead. The elder Kinser, using the same set-up as Kraig, led the race's
final 12 laps to capture the $10,000 win.
Kraig Kinser settled for second place followed by
Terry McCarl, Tim Kaeding and Danny Lasoski. Brian Paulus was sixth
followed by Joey Saldana, Brooke Tatnell, Donny Schatz and Shane
Stewart.
POWERCOM PARK RACEWAY
BEAVER DAM, WI (September 25) -- A huge 65-car field was on hand
Saturday at Powercom Park Raceway's 1/3-mile dirt oval with 57 opting
to trust Hoosier tires. Steve Kinser, using a Hoosier D10 right rear
tire, captured fast time of the evening when he clocked a lap in
12.320 seconds. Donny Schatz was second at 12.437 seconds followed by
Danny Lasoski, Tim Kaeding and Jason Sides. All told, the 32 fastest
times in qualifying were posted by drivers on Hoosier
tires.
In heat race action, Mark Kinser won the first heat,
while Jeff Mitrisin, Jason Meyers and Shane Stewart were winners in
the final three heat races. In the two Dash races, Tim Shaffer was the
first Dash winner, while Donny Schatz captured the win in the final
Dash.
In the 40-lap feature, all 24 starters rode on Hoosier
racing tires. It was the 25th time (in 74 races) this season that
Hoosier was the only tire brand used in a World of Outlaws sprint car
race. Tim Shaffer, using a 94" D12/D15 combination, led
flag-to-flag to capture his first feature win of the season. The
$10,000 win came driving the #6 Casey's General Store sprint
car.
Steve Kinser, who started third, finished in second
place using the same rear-drive combination as the race winner.
Finishing in third place was Craig Dollansky (94" D12/RD15)
followed by Kerry Madsen and Jason Sides in fourth and fifth. Daryn
Pitman finished in sixth place followed by Travis Whitney, Shane
Stewart, Mark Kinser and Joey Saldana in seventh through tenth,
respectively.
The World of Outlaws Series is back in action tonight
(September 27th) for a one-night program at Ionia Raceway Park at Lake
Odessa, MI before Wednesday's one-night show at Pennsylvania's Port
Royal Speedway.
