IN -- Lance Dewease charged from his 13th starting position to win the
40-lap feature Williams Grove National Open on Saturday night, while
Brad Furr took the lead on lap 29 to win the 30-lap feature at Port
Royal Speedway on Sunday. The two wins begins a new win streak for
Team-Hoosier which saw its 48-race Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series
win streak broken at Eagle Raceway last week. Hoosier-shod teams came
back with a vengeance finishing 1-12 in both races.
MECHANICSBURG, PA (September 28) -- After
tropical storm Isidore rained out Thursday's race at Hagerstown
Speedway and the preliminary night of action at Williams Grove
Speedway on Friday, the Outlaws were ready to race on Saturday night
for the finale at "The Grove". When it was all over, Lance
Dewease, a member of the 'Pennsylvania Posse', stood alone in the
winner's circle.
A total of 38 cars were on hand for qualifying on the
famous 1/2-mile Williams Grove oval--31 of them opting to ride atop
the Hoosier brand. Craig Dollansky set fast time (16.756 seconds) on a
pair of Hoosier D10's, while Joey Saldana and Cris Eash were second
and third fastest for Team-Hoosier.
Keith Kauffman, Danny Wood and Danny Lasoski each won
their respective heat races giving Team-Hoosier three wins in the four
heats contested.
Danny Lasoski won the first dash race using the
Hoosier brand, while Joey Saldana was the top Hoosier-shod finisher in
the second dash finishing runner-up.
In the 40-lap feature, 21 of the 26 race starters rode
on Hoosier tires. Danny Lasoski took the early race lead from the pole
using a Hoosier RD12/D12 combination. Lasoski held the race lead until
lap 33, when 13th starting Lance Dewease, charged into the lead.
Dewease, using a D12/D15 combination, held on the final eight circuits
to take the checkered flag win and collect the hefty $30,000 winner's
payout.
Finishing in second place was the pole-sitter, Danny
Lasoski. The defending series champion collected $12,000 for his
runner-up finish. Joey Saldana took third and collected $7,500.
Saldana used a D12/RD15 combination.
The first 12 drivers to cross the finish line in the
40-lap feature all rode on Hoosier tires. Rounding out the top 12 for
Team-Hoosier were Craig Dollansky (4th), Todd Hestor (5th), Mark
Kinser (6th after starting 18th), Fred Rahmer (7th after starting
23rd), Tim Shaffer (8th), Sean Michael (9th), Greg Hodnett (10th after
starting 24th), Cris Eash (11th), and Brad Furr (12th).

PORT ROYAL, PA (September 29) -- Thirty-two
cars were on hand for qualifying at Port Royal Speedway Sunday night.
Todd Hestor set fast time of the night on Hoosier tires. Hestor's time
was 15.863 seconds. Hestor was followed by Steve Kinser, Joey Saldana,
and Lance Dewease as fast qualifiers. All four raced on Hoosiers.
In heat race action, Sean Michael, Greg Hodnett and
Fred Rahmer were each winners on Hoosier tires, while both dash races
were claimed by members of Team-Hoosier. Mark Kinser won the first
dash with Brad Furr capturing the win in the final dash.
In the 30-lap feature, Brad Furr took the lead with
just two to go en route to taking the win. Furr used a RD12/D12
combination in picking up the victory.
For the second consecutive night, the Hoosier brand
was on the first 12 drivers to cross the finish line in the night's
feature race. Rounding out second through 12th for Team-Hoosier were
Mark Kinser, Greg Hodnett, Tim Shaffer, Craig Dollansky, Joey Saldana,
Danny Lasoski, Todd Hestor, Steve Kinser, Randy Hannagan, Daryn
Pittman, and Len Thompson.
Steve Kinser leads the Pennzoil World of Outlaws
Series standings with 9265 points followed by Danny Lasoski with 9000
points.
The Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series will resume
racing this Friday, October 4th, at Tennessee Motor Speedway in
Baxter, TN.
