LAKEVILLE,
IN (June 17-25, 2008) -- The Hoosier Tire brand continued to pile up late model
dirt victories in June winning six of six World of Outlaw races held over a
nine day period. Not only did Hoosier-shod drivers capture six wins, they also
captured all six fast time awards and won 18 of 22 heat races during the
six-race stretch. Drivers used three different Hoosier late model dirt
compounds (1425, 1450 & 2500) en route to their respective wins. Winning
drivers included; Clint Smith (photo), Tim McCreadie, Rick Eckert, Josh
Richards (twice) and Darrell Lanigan.
PORT ROYAL, PA (June 17) -- The Great Northern Tour opened up Tuesday night
with Clint Smith capturing his first WoO win of the season at Port Royal
Speedway. The 43-year-old driver collected $7,150 for the win leading every lap
in the 40-lap feature. Josh Richards posted fast time (20.052 seconds) among
the 55 drivers on hand.
OHSWEKEN,
ONT (June 20) -- Tim McCreadie continued the Hoosier Tire onslaught by winning
the 50-lap feature at Ohsweken Speedway on Friday night. The 34-year-old New
Yorker led the final 31 circuits en route to the win. McCreadie also collected
$10,150 for his efforts.
Clint Smith set fast time of the night with a time of 16.094 seconds.
DRUMMONDVILLE
, QUE (June 21) -- Rick Eckert broke a nearly two year winless stretch Saturday
capturing the 50-lap WoO feature at Autodrome Drummond. Eckert dominated the
action leading all 50 laps while collecting $10,150 for his night of racing.
Darrell Lanigan, also on Hoosiers, set fast time of the event at 18.222
seconds.
CORNWALL
, ONT (June 22) -- On Sunday, Josh 'Kid Rocket' Richards extended the Team
Hoosier win streak by winning the 50-lap feature at Cornwall Motor Speedway.
The 20-year-old Richards came from third to take the lead with 11 laps to go.
Richards earned $10,150 for the win. Billy Decker set fast time of the evening
on Hoosier tires with a time of 13.017 seconds.
CANANDAIGUA
,
NY
(June 24) -- Josh Richards made it two-in-a-row by winning the 40-lap feature
at Canandaigua Speedway on Tuesday. Richards pocketed $7,150 for the
flag-to-flag win. It was Richards' fourth win of the season in the World of
Outlaws Series. Shannon Babb was the fastest qualifier turning a lap in 18.351
seconds.
MINERSVILLE,
PA (June 25) -- The six race win steak for Team Hoosier concluded on Wednesday
when Darrell Lanigan won the 40-lap feature at Big Diamond Raceway. Lanigan
took the lead with seven laps to go en route to the win. With the win, the
Kentucky driver earned $7,150. Mike Marlar set fast time in qualifying with a
time of 16.235 seconds.
The
six-race stretch saw Hoosier-shod drivers move atop the season-long World of
Outlaws Late Model Series point standings. Darrell Lanigan moved to the top of
the rankings with 2451 points, while Josh Richards leaps into second place with
2415 points. Rick Eckert settled into third place with 2401 points.
Port
Royal winner Clint Smith commented after his victory, "I was on the right
rubber," referring to his C4000 2400 left rear and C4000 2500 right rear
tires.
Smith
added, "Chub beat me the first couple of starts, but I figured my car was
plenty good and we were gonna pass him back if the race stayed green. I
could run as fast as I wanted to ride."
Smith concluded, "I just ran
three-quarter throttle most of the time. I was hardly using the brakes in
the corner, I was just rolling right through there."
Hoosier's
Late Model Dirt Product Manager Shanon Rush commented after the six wins,
"We knew this (Great Northern) Tour would be a big test for our C4000
construction and the 1425 compound. Needless, to say, we are extremely pleased
with the results."
