Previous race winner Chris Buescher was second in qualifying with a lap of 17.204 seconds (116.136 mph).

The race featured four different leaders which included; Chris Buescher 1-47 (47 laps), Chase Elliott 48-88 (41 laps), Frank Kimmel 89-122 (34 laps) and Tom Hessert 123-200 (78 laps).

Chase Elliott settled for third place after starting on the pole.

Elliott was followed by Frank Kimmel and Alex Bowman in fourth and fifth, respectively.

Hessert commented after the race, "I'm really into the history of our sport and hearing all about Salem and all of the guys who raced here, I'm glad I got to be one of the guys to go to Victory Lane here."

Hessert added, "The track just kind of worked out for us. We were all on the right tires at the right time. I knew if we could maintain with whoever was behind us for the first 10 laps, we could eventually inch away and that's the way it ultimately worked out for us. Federated has been our sponsor for the year, so it's really, really cool."

The race was slowed by caution flags seven times for a total of 41 laps.

Unofficially, Chris Buescher retains the top spot in the driver standings with two race to go in the 2012 season.

Frank Kimmel is in second place 85 points behind the Buescher as the series returns to DuQuoin, IL for the race that was rained out September 3rd.

The rescheduled race will be on Sunday, October 14, at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds.
