That is until Saturday's Primera Plastics 200 race at Berlin Raceway when the 17-year-old driver led 154 of 200 race laps en route to his first ever series win.

Twenty-six cars were on hand for qualifying prior to the start of the night's main event.

Mason Mitchell set a new track record in qualifying circling the .4375-mile track in 16.781 seconds (93.963 mph). It was the young driver's first career pole award.

Erik Jones was second in qualifying with a lap of 16.828 seconds (93.701 mph) in the #15 Toyota.

The race featured four leaders among three different drivers.

Leaders during the 200-lap event included; Mason Mitchell 1-42 (42 laps), Erik Jones 43-71, 76-200 (154 laps) and Bobby Gerhart 72-75 (4 laps).

According to the race winner, the key to the race was his crew chief's call to take two tires at their first pit stop and then put on four fresh tires on their second pit stop.

Jones led the final 125 laps to capture the win. He crossed the finish line 1.363 seconds ahead of Mason Mingus.

The Byron, MI driver becomes the 11th different winner in the 14 ARCA races contested to date.

Mingus was followed to the finish line by Frank Kimmel in third with Austin Wayne Self and Mason Mitchell in fourth and fifth, respectively.

The race took just one hour and 14 minutes to complete while being slowed four times for caution periods for a total of 21 laps.

With his third place finish, Frank Kimmel continues to hold a sizable lead in the driver standings (195 points) over second place finisher Mason Mingus heading into the final seven races of the season.
