Maintenance & Care

Hoosier Racing Tire designs every product with precision and purpose — but maintaining that performance depends on correct handling, storage, and use. Follow these practices to get the most out of every tire.

PRACTICES & GUIDELINES

Handling

  • Inspect tires for kinked beads or shipping damage before mounting.
  • Clean rims and lubricate beads with rubber lubricant before installation.
  • Never install a tire on a rim of a different bead diameter — verify rim size first.
  • Mounting should be done only by trained personnel, with the wheel locked to the machine or in a safety cage.

STORAGE

  • Always store tires indoors at temperatures above 32°F.
  • If tires have been at 32°F or below, let them warm to room temperature for 24 hrs before mounting or flexing.
  • Use spare tires — not ones intended for competition — for prolonged storage or winter transport.
  • New (sticker) tires should go into service within 2 years of purchase; scuffed tires age faster.

USAGE

  • Never exceed the maximum bead seating or inflation pressure molded into the sidewall.
  • Mount tires with directional arrows so they travel in the arrow's direction.
  • Circle Track tires: serial code toward the infield. Road Racing: serial code toward vehicle center.
  • Designed for racing purposes only — not intended for highway use (exception: Pro Street).

Competition Use

  • Hoosier race tires are intended for competition use only and should be matched to the surface and application for which they were designed.

  • Monitor hot and cold pressures consistently.

  • Maintain accurate records of pressures, temperatures, heat cycles, and wear patterns.

Important Cold Weather Warning

  • Hoosier specifically warns that racing tires, particularly asphalt and harder-compound products, can develop freeze-crack damage if they are mounted, transported, flexed, or stressed while frozen.
  • Tires exposed to temperatures at or below 32°F (0°C) should be warmed to room temperature for a minimum of 24 hours before handling or use.
